Barriers and Bypasses

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
Greetings, all.

As forum regulars will have undoubtedly read, I am currently under a very heavy load right now. I am hunting for a new job, managing both the Christian Gamers Alliance and Tribe of Judah, trying to plan for a wedding (I love you, Erin!), and lead a normal, socially healthy life. While I cannot thank my current staff members enough, I have decided to clearly state what tasks I will and will not take on as I consider the future of the Alliance.

- First and foremost, no new affiliates or member-groups will be inducted until someone volunteers to serve as Member-Group and Affiliate Recruiter. This limits the growth of the Alliance, but I feel it's only fair that new member-groups and affiliates get the attention they deserve--attention I am, unfortunately, unable to provide at this time.

- The Christian Gamers Alliance will not be established as a non-profit organization until we have a full staff committed to completing the work necessary to keep up a NPO. We will need financial guidance from an experience and committed individual to make this dream a reality. We will also need at least a few hundred dollars for fees and other related expenses.

- No new programs will be established unless they are managed completely by a community member. I do not foresee establishing any new programs in the near future which leaves the initiative to community members to start all new programs. All programs already established, such as our Daily Devotional Forums and prayer team, will, of course, remain.

- I will not be spending any more advertising this community by active means. This means that distributing flyers and posting threads promoting the Alliance now falls entirely to other community members.

- Specific to the convention: The bulk, if not all, contact with local Tulsa churches and businesses is now to be handled by others. This means that other community members living in Tulsa are charged with the task of promoting the convention locally. I will not spend any more time revising the registration web page. I will spend only that time which is absolutely necessary to contact those who register to attend the convention to provide more information. Any pre- and post-convention events will be managed by other Tulsa members. This means that there will be no post-convention paintball outing unless someone steps up to the plate and manages the entire event.

- I will not spend any time shopping for a new web host. Many of you have noticed poor and irregular service from our current web host, but I will not be shopping for a new web host. If someone wishes to shop web hosts, please contact our webmaster via e-mail at webmaster AT cgalliance DOT org and he can provide the requirements and preferences for hosting.

- I will not be establishing relationships with Christian software developers. I especially regret not being able to manage this project personally, but I will need to pass this on to a capable liason as well.

- I cannot be solely responsible for making this community a place known throughout the Internet as a haven for the lost, weary, and confused. It is the responsibility of all community members to make visitors feel welcome to unload their burdens and ask advice without fear of ridicule or insult. We, so far, have done a great job encouraging one another. Though I feel that it is time to actively invite the "lost" to join us here on the forums, I, unfortunately, cannot be the one to spearhead the effort.

That wraps up the first section. Now I'd like to briefly go over what I'd like to see happen next for the Alliance.

- New member-groups and affiliates welcomed into the fold.
- Online Bible study program established.
- More people join the CGA prayer team. Contact Rizz at rizz AT toj DOT cc for more information if interested.
- Relationships with online ministries (specifically Setting Captives Free) established and nurtured.
- More people posting news to the CGA news page.
- A CafePress store with custom art established.
- Non-profit organization status established, full "part-time" staff appointed to manage legal and financial paperwork and responsibilities.
- More parents actively involved with this community; more effort made toward working with parents of community members.
- More focus on encouraging community members to attend and get involved in a local church.
- Relationships established with local churches around the world.

Last, but definitely not least, I want this community to be a refuge for broken people seeking answers the world cannot provide. Just as Jesus dined with the sinners of his day, we need to make ourselves available to minister to those who are desperately seeking some kind of love and reason in a world which cannot produce either.

I will likely be adding to this list as I think of other things to write, but this is a good start.

If you would like to help with any of the tasks or programs listed in this post, please e-mail me at tek7 AT cgalliance DOT org and Kasimir and I will get you working as soon as possible!

Aye, that would be great. We can discuss this further when I get back to Tulsa next Thursday and I'll work towards getting you all the necessary information and access rights.
