Assassin and Ritualist

Careful, they're very energy hungry. :)

Hopefully Talon will pop in here and share some tips...

A/R - Critical Barrager

This may be old news by now, but...

A/R

CH = Critical Hit

Attributes:
Critical Strikes: 13 (9 + 3 + 1) - 13% chance to land a CH, +3 energy/CH
Marksmanship: 12 - 17% chance to land a CH
Shadow Arts: 10 (9 +1)

Skills:
Barrage {E}
Critical Eye - +6% chance to land a CH, +1 energy/CH
Sharpen Daggers - spread bleeding
Way of Perfection - +27 hp/CH
Critical Defenses - renewable defense
Signet of Malice - unlinked condition removal, this one is optional really

That leaves 2 utility slots for things like Cap/Res Sig, Dark Escape, Savage Shot/Concussive/Distracting Shot, or Charm Animal!

Equipment:
A short bow for sure!

Hmm, I may have to pay a visit to Senji's Corner with Loew Shikaku, of course I will have to get him to a place to capture barrage too. I think the closest point will be Boreas Seaborard (I'm up to Arborstone right now). Until then Dual shot may work OK.

I was thinking of doing something similar with A/W and using axe mastery or swordsmanship. For an elite I'd use Triple Chop (Wing Three Blade - Budek Byway) or Hundred Blades (Warrior Construct - Sunjiang District Mission). The biggest trouble would be finding a useful shield without any/many points in tactics. This build would also allow for a quick build-up of adrenaline, so I'll have to look if there are any good adrenaline skills to add.

The great thing about barrage/marksmanship is that you don't have to be engaged in melee combat, therefore the assassins low AL isn't as much of a factor. Though I do think the axe thing would be pretty nifty!

I admit to not knowing the significance of the pancake on the bunny's head but few things have made me laugh out loud lately like that picture. Don't know why...it just strikes my funny bone just right.

It has no significance and that's what made it so funny when C$ posted it. It was totally off the wall.

Oh, has C$ posted that pancake bunny before!?!

I know, that picture just cracks me up everytime I see it.

Back to the topic (for the time being at least), after having brought a ritualist to lvl 20 (but haven't capped any elites yet) my impression is that a spirit-spam ritualist is really, really great for soloing-with-henchies in PvE. The reason is, when you're in charge and the henchies follow you, you can drop all sorts of helpful spirits at just the right time in just the right location. These spirits reduce damage, blind opposing warriors, attack and even interrupt opposing spellcasters, and having the 'full complement' down is just devastating to almost any PvE enemy group.

Now in terms of PvP - the big, big thing the ritualist has is Shelter, an anti-spike spirit. It take a long time to cast and doesn't stick around for that long, even with maxed out Communing, but while its up no party member can lose more than 10% health per attack.

I don't think it's all that hard to get any profession up to level 20 in Cantha. You should be almost there by the time you finish on the island, especially if you try all the secondary profession quests.

What secondary professions has everyone tried for ritualists. I see that dorkelf's is a Rt/Mo. I assume the purpose there would be as a spirit spammer and heal/protect backup. I think a Rt/R could be good too for spirits and protective traps and stances. Does anyone have any other suggestions for War, Necro, Mez, Ele or Assassin?

My Rt is lvl2 and I don't think I've done anything more than log into her for a minute or 2 since the "Day of the Tengu" event.

I've got an Rt/Me. It's an okay combination; I thought about Rt/Mo, but that was what Paul was playing. I'll probably change it.

No offense to Anet but i hate going through that island, i would rather sit at my dinner table eating pee's and watching a chick flick while my brother punches me in the head with boxing gloves.

Only positive thing is that you get to 20 faster.
