PLAY HALO & WE'LL DONATE $77,000!

So, you want to help but don’t have a way to get one of our shirts or make a monetary donation? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered with the easiest possible way to be a hero – playing Halo!

We are rallying our fan community to show their support by playing Halo 3 or ODST online next Wednesday or Thursday while wearing a special emblem signifying your commitment to the cause. For every thousand heroes that participate, we will make a $100 donation on behalf of Bungie and our fan community to the Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts, up to a maximum of $77,000. All you have to do is don a special emblem and play a game online and know that you’ve done a small part to help those in need.

Please mark your calendars and help spread the word!

Here are the specifics:

1. Round up all of your friends and hop online with Halo 3 or ODST any time next from 00:01AM PST Wednesday, 1/20, through 23:59PM PST Thursday 1/21.

2. Edit your appearance settings so your character is wearing the RED HEART emblem.
a. Press START
b. Select “SETTINGS” / “APPEARANCE”
c. Select “EMBLEM”
d. Select “Hearts” ICON, “Circle” BACKGROUND
e. Back out to the APPEARANCES menu and select “COLORS”
f. Set “EMBLEM PRIMARY” to RED (or MAROON / BRICK / ROSE depending on which game you’re playing!)
g. Set “EMBLEM SECONDARY” to WHITE

3. Once your emblem is set, play! This can be a custom game or a matchmaking game, just make sure it’s played online, on Xbox LIVE, or we can’t track it.

If you keep playing more games through midnight on Thursday, KEEP THE HEART EMBLEM ENABLED or you may not get counted.


We’ve got our hearts on and we’re looking for a fourth. Will you join our cause on Xbox LIVE? (for screenshot example purposes we’re on system link, your network needs to be “Xbox LIVE” though!)

But wait, there’s more! We want to see your screenshots and hear the stories about your experiences. Take screenshots from your games and tag them on Bungie.net with “HERO” so we can capture the moment. We’ll go through and find screens we like and send some of you the special “Be a Hero!” Superintendent t-shirts we’re offering at the Bungie Store as a small token of our gratitude for your support.
 
Got with you last night Nazgul. Had fun. I'm trying to quickly level up after prestige to get back to the better weapons to be of any real use. I got spoiled with holographic \ thermal \ M16's \ ACR's etc etc etc. Iron sighting M4's and MP5 is just *sigh*.

Go through my friends list, nearly everybody on it is from TOJ or CGA.
 
Microsoft sued over Xbox Live points system

Microsoft's system for selling content through Xbox Live is anything but straightforward. Rather than using real-world currency or an easily understood conversion rate, the publisher has adopted its own system, where 400 Microsoft points is equivalent to $5. Further, Microsoft only sells point packs in multiples of 400, often leaving gamers with excess points after purchasing content that they want.


Purchasing points has given at least one man a serious headache.
This last point is the subject of a new class action lawsuit, which was filed in the US District Court of Eastern Pennsylvania last week. The complaint alleges that Microsoft defrauded the class, which is led by Samuel Lassoff, by "collecting revenues for digital goods and services which were not provided." In particular, Lassoff's filing states that Microsoft contractually agreed to only charge for "the complete, whole, and or actual digital goods and services purchased."

Lassoff claims that Microsoft did not warn him, as well as the "hundreds" of others he believes are in a similar situation, of "point fraud due to incomplete and or partial downloads." He also notes in the filing that Microsoft did not offer any way to recover the unused points after he contacted customer support.

The complaint goes on to charge the publisher with negligence, unjust enrichment, and unfair business practices due to its pricing scheme for Microsoft points. Lassoff is seeking compensatory damages for the class, as well as interest and other damages as determined by the court.

That is just some problems with the point system. I have a problem were some of the downloaded content was downloaded through my brothers file(we split the cost of the points), however after it broke down and we got it back fixed all content was gone and now only my brother can redown load it.
I also find that the yearly subscription is a bad idea. A person that only plays two hours a day is charged the same for someone who is playing 15.
Just my thoughts.

Those that aren't ToJ or CGA, I should mention, are decent people, good players but are friends of friends who are in ToJ \ CGA.

I can't get ACR yet, but working my way up. I think the ACR was the first gun I got all the unlocks for in a day. I also like the Thermal M16 in Hard core. I'm going to try the Famas as well. Right now I'm working on M4 and Scar.


We broke our MW2 CD. The system still recognizes the CD as MW2, just won't run it. So we are burrowing a friends to install onto the HDD and crossing our fingers that it will run from the HDD with the unreadable CD in the drive.
 
The annual subscription is cheap enough. $50 a year? I pay that much for 3 WoW accounts per month and I have two Xbox live gold accounts. Quite honestly, I would play $100 a year per account for a platinum version that included all the downloads, redownloads and movies my heart desires. Already paying an additional $70 to $140 a year buying all the points per account.

And I agree with the points you can't use issue. I've come down to having 40 points left. What can you download for 40 points? Once you get to under 100 points, it would be nice to be given the option to extend your gold membership by a month with those points. Some people will get an extra month for 100 points, some for 40
 
you can get miner dig deep for 80 in indie games.

i honestly don't mind too much having the excess points, that's how i ended up with my clone trooper helmet :D
 
That sucks. The plastic ring in the center of my disk is cracked but its still readable.

The Famas is better then the m16 it has a better accurcy and in hard core the damage of the m16 dosnt matter.
 
We installed a friends game to our HDD and it runs with our broken CD. It appears it is an issue with the design of the plastic case, specifically the ring release. Very poor design. I liked the famas in CS, where you can switch between 3 burst mode and fully automatic!
 
Hello this is my first time on the forums. I just thought I would put my GT out there so you can send me a FR. My Gt is the same as my name on this. I do think of Microsoft points as being a bit of a pain. I wish I could just by an item online that costs 560 microsoft points (about $7 I think) for $7 and not have to pay $10 with points left over.

I definitely think trying to set up nights to play certain games, or at least get people together online would be a good idea, actually start to make it feel like a community. I know I've got 4 or 5 toj people on my friend list, but aside from a few exchanged emails I haven't really had any contact with anyone.
 
I'll be send friend invites to people on this and the other thread in the next day or so. Wish I would have checked this a while back so I could have been playing with you guys instead of the random, profane, racist children out there.

ToJ Staff meeting - 2/18/10

There is a ToJ staff meeting scheduled for February 18th, 2010 starting at 8PM CST. We would love to see as many as possible make it for this staff meeting as it would be the year's first.

Please take time to read the guidelines for the meetings so as to be prepared for what's to take place.
