TBH the arrogance comes out of personality types and not what people buy. I have lived on all 3 sides of the isle with windows, linux and osx and frankly there are stupid, stuck up people littering the user bases of all. Think about where the concept of the apple "arrogance" comes from.

IIRC the 3g data is pay as you go. Also it is cheaper then everything else out on the market (50-60 dollars is the norm under contract iirc, usually at 5GB cap). The best interest is in at&t bringing a little competition to the market price wise, even if their network sucks. If the other networks adopt that pricing model to compete then everyone wins in the long term.
