Anyone here work for Dell?

I wish I worked for dell, I would sit around and post on the forums all day. I would host a party after they fired me, after which I would be in a job making twice as much money.

The reason he wants to ask here is because the tech support at dell isnt too bright.

I'll agree with vibro about tech support only because I've never EVER seen intelligent tech support anywhere. Or at least good tech support that spoke fluent English and/or didn't have a heavy Indian/Spanish accent.

Alienware support is AMAZING. I've screwed so many things up on my computer and they're there to hold my hand threw it each time. Then again, after spending all my lawn mowing money I spent 7 years saving, I deserve to have them come to my house and fix my computer for me.

Umm...Alienware support is in Costa Rica. I don't think they would be able to make the trip. :D However, they do have a good contract with the Costa Rica company, and on my calls they have been nothing but top notch. We looked into getting them for HP support as well, but they don't have the manpower to handle our volume.

And just so this isn't a thread hijacking, Tek, are you looking to go to their Ultrasharp monitors? If so, contact parts. There are also a lot of aftermarket vendors for the Dell Ultrasharp LCDs, so maybe going through one of them would be more helpful.

I was hoping to purchase a TrueLife notebook screen at a discount, since Dell will need to replace my current notebook screen (which is the standard model) anyway. I spoke with a few people in different departments, and I didn't get anywhere. I thought maybe with an inside connection, I could "strike a deal" and get the screen for less than $463.95 (the standard price for a separate TrueLife 17-inch notebook screen).

Still, I'm not crushed. The TrueLife screen is somewhat reflective, which can be annoying when working in a bright environment. And as long as Dell replaces my current screen (that has light leakage problems), I'm good to go. I have an excellent system, a great warranty plan, a fresh install of Windows XP Pro and only the software I need.

alienware got bought out by dell, so expect to see poor engineering and bad notebooks from them now. (i suspected they were bought out ever since they started offering budget cpus)

I have a cousin who works for Dell. He works in tech support but he's a few tiers up. Usually when you contact tech support, you get someone who knows basic stuff about your system. You have to get to their higher tiers of support before you get someone with good knowledge.

hehe the last time I called dell I gave them exactly what I wanted, in plain english, and it took them 40 minutes to get the information. 20 of those minutes were spent saying, yes that is what I want to know.

tech support is horrible now adays.

vibrokatana, I know I'm not a moderator, but I think I speak for a few people when I say this: please make an attempt to contribute to the original topic of this thread.
