Anybody pick up the new Kutless CD, "Hearts of the Innocent"?

It was released on Tuesday and my local Christianbook store got my pre-order of the special edition in today. I've listened through once and I've got to say it's easily the best CD they've had yet. I know there are some who aren't too fond of Kutless because they're too similar to Creed or they're not innovative, but those people can take their pretentious snobbery elsewhere.

While CCM is right with the criticism that there are a few "awkward" lyrical moments on the disc, I still think it's a great listen and the best CD Kutless has produced yet.

This is insane, Shawn McDonald, Kutless, and Sanctus Real with new releases all within a month's time. w00t!

Anyone else have thoughts?

Ouch! Fine then, I won't say anything ;).

I only have "Promise of a Lifetime" plus the title track.. are there any other goodies on the CD? =)

If you head to to purevolume, you can listen to "Shut Me Out", "Somewhere In the Sky", and "Beyond the Surface" in their entirety.

As for goodies outside of the two you have, I really like "Winds of Change", "Somewhere In the Sky", and "Million Dollar Man".

Two unrelated comments. I got the special edition DVD with every music video Kutless has ever shot, and I have to say, "Shut Me Out" is pretty cool. The premise actually fits with the song. The video can be seen on the Kutless website.

As for the four additional songs that come with the special edition, I don't really dig them. The four songs are acoustic versions of "Shut Me Out", "Smile", "Somewhere in the Sky", and "Changing World". While I don't have a problem with acoustic songs, it sounds like they took Jon Micah Sumrall's vocals from the normal versions and just laid them over acoustic guitars. The songs don't sound cohesive as Sumrall's delivery is much more suited for the riff-happy tendencies of the normal versions. It's extremely apparent during the bridge (at least I think it's the bridge) of "Somewhere in the Sky".

Pillar is releasing theirs soon, as well. I can't wait!

They're supposed to be going even "harder" this time out with their latest record. Skillet is also working on a new CD. Good year for Christian rock fans.

I got it. It rocks! I have an autographed copy with a DVD full of all their music videos. I preordered it on their website and it was delivered to my mailbox on Tuesday.

I hope Skillet is going back to their pre-Colide sound.

I haven't heard that much, but what I heard before was electronic rock, which seemed more interesting than what they're currently doing. I'm not terribly fond the guy's voice though (and I listen to alot of death/black metal too). I won a copy of Collide for acting ridiculous in front of a bunch of youth group kids at a lock-in. The whole cd felt kinda generic to me (hey, I'm not trying to be a "pretentious snob" here, but I probably am one ;)).

I'd definitely suggest checking out "Alien Youth" and "Invincible". I think it's Skillet at their best, though I dig "Hey You, I Love Your Soul" the most for personal reasons.

They've posted a new video on their website where lead singer and bass player John Cooper talks a bit about the direction of their new CD. Sounds very cool. I'm super stoked.
