Since GFC isn't able to run a server and by popular request...talon and i have resurrected the Christmas Custom Maps 1.6 Counter-Strike Server. A big thanks to Talon as he did most of the work.

also a mappack is being made so you can download all of the maps quickly and not from the server directly..:)

Thank you Talon and HCS for putting the server back online. I can't begin to tell you how much I have missed playing the custom 1.6 maps.

And I just messaged a one-sentence announcement and a link to this thread to 20+ people on Steam.
 
Okay, I just installed the map pack and jumped on the server and I have to admit it's a trip playing something as low-poly as CS 1.6 after being away from the game for a few years.

I ping between 90 and 110 on the server, so don't expect me to pwn anyone (not that I would anyway). Regardless of ping, it'll be a blast to play some Christmas maps with old friends.
 
I must have JUST missed you. It seems like something might be missing, map wise. Let me do some digging, I have a TON TON TON TON TON of custom maps. I have a cd dedicated to Christmas maps I will have to check.
 
Question: Where is the server located now?

I ask because I usually get 400+ ping.

I'll try CS later since I just reformated my PC.
 
downloading 1.6 as I type, should be looking to play some today as my laptop sure be more than able to run it.
 
Just because I'm a noob. is CS:Source the same as CS 1.6? I have access to CS:S from buying the orange box.
 
css is not cs 1.6 . cs 1.6 is a more accurate and challenging and lower poly version of css
 
Redownloaded CS1.6 this morning, grabbing the map pack tonight. Hope to see some faces on in the weeks to come
 
i absolutely love it ^_^ so much fun and ive been having a wonderful christmas time
