Age of Conan

this is what game designers have fallen to just to sell a game. we have no control on this but we can make choices to avoid that type of stuff plus learn from others mistakes . a friend of mine got it , played it for a longtime then saw that. soon after he removed it from his computer and wont go on it again.

I understand the argument to a point but we all play video games in which you kill other people, where do we draw the line?

That being said I dont have the game or have any desire to play the game but I thought WoW was pretty racey with the female night elves too, they dont leave much to the imagination when they disrobe yet we have no problems playing WoW and killing everything including other people. It is nice to hear you can turn it off, definately don't want kids seein that much.

Where you draw the line is up to each person, individually. We are not to judge each other for the decisions but we are also not to encourage a brother beyond his convictions. What is a sin to one person is not necessarily to the next. You have to listen to the Spirit and make the right choice when He prompts you. We have much freedom as Christians, but we should be vigilant in protecting our mind/heart/eyes. I knew pretty fast after playing GTA4 for 2 hours (and getting a full fledged g-string lap dance) that I should not play the game ever again or I would quench the Spirit.

Looking at the Dev's point of view on their own game can help you make the decision as well. Blizzard makes efforts to make their game family friendly. They offer parental controls and try to make their game accessible to all ages. AoC is rated "mature 17+" and they are clearly looking for an adult audience. If you didn't see my SS from beta above, this gives you a flavor of what you will be dealing with in regards to Dev's attitude. LINKY

I think the point being made is you draw the line personally. Also, if you know that somebody has particular issues with something specific, then you do not encourage that person down that path just because you think you are strong enough for yourself.

Question: The toons in this game can be disrobed almost entirely by the player and run around, females to the point of absolutely no top coverage with next to no bottom coverage. How can anyone argue "i see no nudity yet?" when its right there on the screen, on any toon you can make.

Maybe your already rationalizing its ok, but you have to live with your own conscience (as well as the females in your life who may find this entirely reprobate and judge you accordingly?).

meh, no biggie.

What makes you think i'm de-robing my female characters? I did not know this was possible untill you mentioned it. I did not lie to you when i told you have not seen any nudity yet. Also, on a side note, i do not plan on running around naked. I understand your against this game, but i find "I see no nudity yet?" a fair arguement. When i do, you will hear my opinion on the matter.

ok there is a dif between wow and this.. WOW the NPCs are FULLY dressed and there arent any questionable jobs going around.. .yes some people act inappropriate but its the same in the world around you. yes these things are bad but u need to relize that and try and cut them out but it is IMPOSSIBLE to cut all of these things out.. u would never leave your house, watch tv or anything you would have to sit in your house in a closet with the lights off with nothing.. i mean this stuff is even in the BIBLE so its something people need to not be tempted by and if it does tempt them stay and use God to help you get past it

The game is trash. It's not worth playing something that will tempt you immensely non-stop. God knows I don't need to play AoC.

The fact that I heard about the graphic detail of the blood spilling every where from the fights was actually enough to cause me to have absolutely no interest in the game. Did you say there is an NPC run whore house? That is just messed up and totally not a game that I would play.

at first i was like eh it couldnt be that bad but im really glad you guys brought it up cause now i will never touch this game with a stick!

watched some friends playing it at a LAN party last weekend and it looks pretty brutal on the action side. I know if my kids can't watch me play it at home then its a no-go.

I canceled my account and It is if dentally to Bloody for kids to watch. I still never saw any nudity but have read it’s there. I stay away for this game unless something changes in the future.

For those of you still trying to decide whether or not to purchase or try Age of Conan, I thought I'd help make the decision a bit easier.

After reviewing the information available from the ESRB, I have decided not to endorse a Tribe of Judah Age of Conan guild.

As of this time, I am not aware of any Christian AoC guilds. Given the content of the game, there will likely not ever be a Christian AoC guild.

For anyone wanting to try a new MMO, I recommend waiting until Warhammer Online hits open beta and reviewing the available ESRB information (if any) at that time or at the title's release.

Christian gamers say they're tired of games with gratuitous nudity and sexual content. Let's speak with the only voice the developers hear--our money--and refuse to purchase Age of Conan.
