I am looking at buying one because my current laptop has gotten to the point to where it will only give me about an hour and usually less of battery life before it goes kaput.

I will absolutely not spend more than $350. Down the street at Microcenter they have the 6-cell (battery) version for $329, I think its the A150 - 1049.

Does anyone here have a netbook and can anyone vouch for their "amazing" battery life?

get a dell mini 9, refurbed with 20% coupon for 257$ . i recently got one and love it. the dell is a 4 cell battery though which, when you turn down your brightness and dont listen to music, ends up being like 5 hours.

They are really cheap...

How do I install stuff??? I would need MS Office on it. (I already have the Student Teacher Ed. and prefer it over OpenOffice.)

i actually just use google docs for everything.

Yeah for the CD Drive I'd have to borrow a friend's drive.

I had never thought of Google docs.

Thanks guys!

Odale I was also looking at getting myself a netbook for a while, have not gotten it yet but i know that most netbooks come with it's own MS products on it. The normal Office products run on a resolution that is too big for the screen. It is MS Office i just can't remember the exact name of it though.

---EDIT---
Just looked it up really fast, it is Microsoft Works. When i was looking at the program really quickly at the Circuit City i worked at before it closed down it seemed to be the exact same thing as Office just made for the smaller computers.

Display 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor

Link to System Requirements for Microsoft Office

Like i stated before, for Netbooks the resolution is not high enough on the screen to support Microsoft Office Normally, but that is a great deal on Office Ultimate. Wish i would have known about that when i was in school. That would have been alot easier.

---EDIT---

Actually i am confused now, I looked up the system requirements for Microsoft Works and it says that you need the same resolution size, so i don't know exactly how that works >_<

Interesting.

I didn't know there was a minimum screen size you had to have to run it. Though it does make sense.

Thanks Alizak.

MS Ultimate is nice but instead of paying $60 I may just end up using google docs lol.

Thanks ppar3566

Edit!: I don't have MS Office 2007, but instead I have Office 2003 and the minimum requirements for it are 800x600. I'm saved!

Note on computer hardware:

I would highly suggest the units with the Atom processor and solid state hard drives. The Atom processors are really high quality mobile processors IMO and alot better than the mobile celerons typically used in the netbooks. The solid state drive makes it more efficient for battery life, faster read/write and boot up times, and produce less heat - which can be an issue since the fans are smaller.

Oh my goodness.

That's nice!

I am still looking and that one is my new favorite.

I am seeing a lot written about "Internet Storage."

What's that?
