3D Dot Game Heroes Comes to USA May 11, 2010

Atlus USA (who published Demon's Souls and Persona 4 in the US) made their announcement on the Playstation Blog.

Here is the Japanese launch trailer for those interested on how the game looks in motion.

Basically, if you like homage/parody to the classic 8-bit adventure RPGs like Zelda, this title should definitely interest you.

And it's $40.

I'm on the Atlus mailing list, saw the promo e-mail for this game, and was immediately intrigued.

If I end up getting a PS3 before the year's out, I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on this game.

I have a soft spot for anything Atlus/XSeed/etc, and this game is certainly no exception. Looks incredible.

3D zelda-style clone with dragon quest-esque characters? The only thing that could have made this better is if the sword was made out of pixellated bacon.

You could post the suggestion on the Atlus USA forums and see if they work it into the game as a special item.

Between this, Final Fantasy, White Knight Chronicles, Star Ocean, The Last Guardian, and whatever else I missed...

this is going to be a good year for gaming.

After watching some video reviews, reading info on the mini-games (tower defense/breakout), and reading there are difficult new game+ modes (these are the same people that made Demon Souls)...I pre-ordered this today. I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival in 3 weeks.

Slims are $300...although not sure if you're referring to the price + tax or games or whatever. This game is actually $40 MSRP, under $37 with no ship/tax on Amazon.

Of course, Amazon has free shipping on the PS3, and dell often runs 15% off deals.

Between this and Modnation Racers...I am highly anticipating next month. Ah well...back to White Knight Chronicles in the meantime...

Got an email this morning...my copy is on its way! Can't wait...been so excited about this game, I almost cancelled my Amazon pre-order so that I could pick this up today at Best Buy. Oh well...one or two more days won't hurt.

Haha, yes, definitely like Zelda...although I've been happy to see a myriad of Dragon Warrior (especially 4) and other old game references. I would LOVE a 3D DGH Dragon Warrior game! (Are you listening, From?)

In addition to those forums, and for those who don't yet have 3D DGH but want to play around with a pixel editor...I'd recomment QBlock:

There are a ton of good creations on here too, although most of them are being redone in the georama. I think I'd like to try to make Ragnar or the Hero from DW4. I think I will try to make a Spongebob...Raley loves him, should be easy, and the one on georama is creeeeeepy.

Well, I've just started Darksiders for my post OoT Zelda fix and 3D dot game heroes is going to be next on my list for the pre OoT Zelda fix... I can't wait!

Darksiders is an excellent game. Still need to go finish that one up; about halfway through.

Just finished up 3D DGH. Very great game, and a good challenge at times too. Working on From Mode now, which is a blast with all of the extra enemies. And of course, I'm very much looking forward to Spelunker Mode. Aye yai yai, the pain!

First laughed at seeing Spelunker...but the interviews were hilarious!

This game is absolutely great. My plan was basically to play without looking at any guides (think that takes the fun out), then replay in From Mode making sure I got everything. I'm a few minigames away from getting all swords. Then it's off to spelunker mode. One hit deaths, lol.
