3 way SLI is upon us

it wont actually be 3x, probably more like 2.2-2.7x as the data has to be replicated between all the cards and the fact that each card is rendering 1/3 of the screen (but has to hold data for the entire area). With very little work you can make an environment that would cause each video card to have to render the full scene resulting in a much less performance increase.

Oh thats freaky. oh question: isn't there already 4 way SLI? ya know, quad SLI.
 
In some cases. i know a girl who has 2 8800 Ultras in SLI and has had it for like 8 months now.

Well, the problem I see with SLI is that you are less likely to upgrade except to another SLI setup, which means you will get into the habit of spending 2-3x as much as you normally would or not at all.
