What is the demographic breakdown of who is where? It may help in deciding where to have it if you know where most of the CGA populace resides. Otherwise smaller casual gatherings can possibly be arranged for those in certain areas (East Coast/West Coast/Middle).

Personally I would not be able to go to anything out of the upper midwest region (would have to be within a days driving distance of the Twin Cities area of MN) and I would need to either bring the kids or find family to watch them. Hubby is on 3rd shift and cannot possibly make it to anything :(

Having the Convention in the Middle/Central would easily help the western/eastern coast people of U.S.A.

South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri

As for the Canadians, Oregan is the closest.(Mainly the British Columbians)

Oh yeah... Western is winning. WW! AHA! You people are doomed! WE WIN! :0

I can't wait, if it is not in tennessee then i can come!

im in washington state as well. and it apears not many mid west or eastern coast peopel are posting on this topic....

*smacks forehead* D'oh! That's only the, what, fifteenth time I've done that now? *chuckle*

Don't EVER hold a convention in Wyoming. Not only does it have the lowest population density, but they don't have a SINGLE DDR MACHINE IN THE ENTIRE STATE.*

*EDIT: As of last year. Now there are two!

i wasnt a big fan of wyoming when i traveled through there, the wal-mart had powerade for 78cents when nebraska walmart had it for 62cents. so yeah, wyoming is out of the question

I live in Metro Atlanta (Georgia) and i was pretty miffed when i found out that the Convention was cancelled in Tenessee; and i was even more miffed when i found out why it was cancelled. Id like to see another convention on the east coast, and possibly in the eastern side of the midwest.... does that make sence to everyone? I work a 50 hour week and cant exactly take a long time off.

LA
AR
MO
IL
OK
and mabye Texas (so i can see my homies!)

And yes... Georgia has DDR machines...

Hm. It seems there's quite a bit of debate concerning next year's convention location. If it is held on the west coast, there would be very little chance I could attend. The same is true of the east coast. It might be strange to hold a CGA convention without the CGA President, but if enough people want a west or east coast location, I would concede to popular opinion.

Keep in mind that no matter where we hold the convention, I will need a trustworthy adult (18 or over) to coordinate the events. Ideally, the convention coordinator would arrange everything, I would put my stamp of approval on it, and I would show up (if my schedule and budget allows) to speak once or twice and enjoy the weekend along with the other attendees.

In other words, the convention coordinator would be doing nearly all the work.

So, while it's nice that many people are excited about holding a convention next year, how many will actually be able to attend--and help coordinate the event? In the past two years, there's been a great deal of excitement after the announcement, but far fewer people registering than originally expected. Rather than base the location for the convention solely on response, I have to base the decision on how many people will commit to showing up (i.e. willing to pay money to register) and how many people will help.

Another option is holding regional events once every three, four, or six months.

SA do you have a problem with Tennessee???? Goodness is that the only place you wouldn't go???? Sorry but to me just to exclude one place is a bit unthoughtful ( for me to be polite about it.) Sorry Tek you know why at this time I will not volunteer the Volunteer state and that will probably knock me out of being able to actually do anything extra to help or probably attend for that matter.

In all honesty, the timing and location play the biggest factors for us. I liked Tennesse a lot, not only for the location (since the area is beautiful), but lodging was very reasonable (since the whole family would be coming). Regrettably, the timing was off. I think the center of the country would probably be the best option. One that is close to major conveniences, but not too touristy to keep prices down. Of course, I have no idea where that would be, I am just sure that there is a spot though.
