2004 Daily Devotional forum plans

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
Greetings, all.

I know that it's two days before January 1, 2004. I know that I've laid very little groundwork for next year's daily devotional forum. I know that I have not yet appointed someone to manage the forum and this program.

Nevertheless, I am moving ahead with my plan to create a daily devotional discussion forum for the Christian Gamers Alliance community. We will be using the text "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers, a classic Christian devotional.

I plan on creating the forum and Amazon shop today and officially announcing the opening of the forum tomorrow morning. I will be contacting possible leaders for the program over the next few days and hope to appoint someone to manage the forum before January 7.

I will be in charge of the program for the first seven days. After that time, if I am able to appoint a program coordinator, I will step back and let him/her lead the forum. At the end of the first month, we will decide whether or not to continue the forum based on the level of activity at that time.

Please keep in mind that this program is one that can be started at any time of the year, unlike our previous "Bible In A Year" program. Still, I would like to know if there will be sufficient interest in this program to keep it alive throughtout the entire year.

While this post is meant mostly to inform CGA community members of my plans, I would also appreciate any feedback from members who would like to and plan on getting involved with this program.

Thank you all for you time, and God bless.

EDIT: If you do not own a copy of "My Utmost For His Highest" and are short on funds but would still like to participate, please send an e-mail to tek7 AT cgalliance DOT org with your mailing address. I will purchase copies of the devotional for the first three members to contact me. Note that I do expect those for whom I purchase the book to get and stay involved with this program all year, as available.

If you would also like to sponsor members or donate funds toward extra copies, please contact me by e-mail or instant message.

I just gotta say that "My Utmost For His Highest" is a great choice. I read maybe 1/4 of it one year for my own devotional studies and I was impressed how deep and moving the daily readings were. That usually doesn't happen unless something moves both my heart and my intellect, and Oswald Chambers does a good job of that.

I havent heard that one.. though it may be a USA thing.. we have the word for today here which is very good... if occasionally cheesy.. but im sure the forum will work well..

I have a copy of My Utmost For His Highest, and I would be willing to take part in staffing if required!

I also fully agree. It is a wonderful devotion. I have read it a few times. It's amazing how often the word's Oswald Chambers says are EXACTLY what you need to hear for that day. Many times I went through my day reflecting on the devotion and how it pefectly fit with whatever was happening.

Rizz, I believe Oswald Chambers was from England. But perhaps his devotional never made it big over there. It's actually made up of little snippets from his sermons.

I know my Father has a copy of it. I'm disappointed that I didn't participate in the Bible in a Year program last year. I'll be there!

I'll check it out. Like rizz, i never heard of it, but i'm willin to giv anythin a try

Wow! I must say that I'm quite encouraged by the response so far. I'll be opening the forum tomorrow and it's a wonderful relief to know that I can count on others participating in the forum from the first day.

I'll try to write up the post for January 1 today during lunch and the post for January 2 on the 1st. I'd like to have someone else cover the 3rd and 4th as I work both those days (they'll be the second and third day in a string of twenty-two straight work days) but I'll be back at the helm on Monday for sure.

Hey I just found an online site where the entire book is already organized by date, and you can search it all too.  Check it out:

http://www.myutmost.org/

I know it might be cheesy to simply link to this site for your own purposes, Tek7, but it might save u a lot of time. Plus this means no one has to purchase the book to participate because it's already printed online, etc....
