DX10 for XP would make me literally say "I love you Microsoft", which I can not even imagine saying...

I live about 2 Blocks from Microsoft. Maybe i should present your case to them. I run XP and Vista both. For somereason my vista machine boots faster, and overall is a faster machine. They have the AMD/Intel equivilent hardware. I guess i'm just lucky.

I kinda like the practical features of Vista (start search, etc.) and the security features as a guy starting a family. Still, most of them could probably be easily implemented on XP from Microsoft. I HATE how some of my Nvidia hardware does not like Vista.
