I think as a ranger in PVP your specialty should be traps, or possibly disrupting or distracting bow skills, interrupting your targets. The best thing you might be able to do with your mesmer secondary would be something to keep renewing your energy.

From what I've heard, they are worth more unidentified than identified due to the fact that when you identify them, whatever mods you get are unlocked for PVP. Good stuff.
