It's from reddit, so there may be choice language (be warned). I read this from a friend on another forum, but Neverwinter is most definitely pay to win (or pay for power.. whatever).

Real money crafted items are 20% better, faster access to enchantments, etc.

It's worth your while to read if you plan on spending time in Neverwinter.

Side note: I cannot stop typing Neverwinter Nights. I can't! It's a habit!

I read the whole thread.

I don't really see this as an issue unless you are looking for Neverwinter to be a great PvP game. (spoiler.... it isin't). There is no reason to have that 1% enchant other then to roll faces in PvP. None of this has any affect on those of us playing it for PvE solely. The combat is some of the most fun in any MMO ever, the quests are varied and very entertaining, the dungeons are challenging and rewarding. No one in our guild gives a rip if you have better enchants then the next guy. The game is total fun!

What do you mean by real money crafted items? I am curious about this one.

I will say the prices are way to expensive for things, makes it really hard to consider purchasing anything personally. Regardless, I have may friends playing for free and having a blast.

Come join us in SOLA! We have 25+ on a night and 20+ in mumble chatting it up while have a good time.

Ohh don't forget that you can buy zen with cash or with in-game currency, so this is all moot really. Everything listed in this thread can be bought by playing the game and not using your wallet.

I found the pvp uninspiring. But, I did find the player made quest to be over the top fun. They were way better than the in game ones.

Also will say that NWO is a game that is completely free to play with no paywalls. All content and classes are fully free. As long as you don't mind skipping out on PvP you can play one of the best action MMOs on the market for nothing!

Honestly, I am willing to give up PvP in this game as a trade off for it being free. Perfect World can make all their cash on the gamblers and the p2win PvPers and the rest of us can enjoy the great PvE on behalf of their wallets.

Yeah it has only been out 2 weeks and the player made content via the Foundry is already good stuff. I am looking forward to seeing how this matures.

Apparently the crafting packs you buy in the Zen Shop are superior than gathering the mats for free.

In the Zen Shop, two different Profession packs exist: Professions Booster Pack and Professions Assets Pack. In the Booster Pack, there is 1 random (both quality and type) worker and random assortments of crafting items. In the Asset pack, there are 1 Purple or Blue Asset, 2 Purple Blue or Green Asset, 1 blue or green Asset and 1 green Asset (for a total of 5 guaranteed Assets). Any player may make any item, but paying customers will get an upwards of 20% stat increase on their crafted equipment.

And then there's this:

And while it is true that you can always buy Zen with Astral Diamonds, simply doing quests/professions/skirmishes is nowhere enough to realistically sustain yourself. I have tried and it is far too difficult to reach 24,000 rough astral diamonds on a daily basis. On Mindflayer, it currently costs 435,000 Astral Diamonds for 10 dollars worth of Zen.

I fully admit that the game is fun. The combat is refreshing and very, very satisfying. But I take issue with letting people buy their way into 1337-ness.

Ahh gotcha. I have had quite a few of those profession packs, you can get them from the daily prayer as well. that is 1 every 5 days if you log in once a day. I also got some from the lock boxes that I did surveys for the free zen for the keys. You know those items make it to the auction house so you can buy them with diamonds as well.

I'm not 100% sure (at only level 14) that 24,000 Astral Diamonds per day are needed to "sustain you."

That said, I'm not looking at doing competitive end-game stuff.

And it's Perfect World. Of course they put in huge for-pay power incentives.

These days, though, I'm not actually worried about pay-for-power (mostly because I don't PVP.) I consider it a fun challenge to play without paying. Of course, there are games that aren't fun without paying, but I wouldn't consider Neverwinter to be one of them.

Is there an online catalogue were I can spend my real money of fake stuff? I need to be leet.
No no. You have it backwards. You become "leet" when you manage to sell fake stuff for real money. That is why I sold almost all of my TF2 vintage items and hats. . .Well, for the "leet" status and because I would like the Skyrim DLC Dragonborn when it finally drops in price which I don't really want to pay out-of-pocket for.

I'd love it if F2P games actually gave me incentives to put my money towards.

Like "if we get 150,000$ in payments from people who want it, we'll add the Monk class to Neverwinter."

and give multiple options. Deva race? Aerialist Rogue?

Just add monk in as a playable class. Include loose interpretations of the 3.0 ruleset that allow you to leap for miles. :)
