Unreal Tournament 3 for $3.99

I see that Unreal Tournament 3: Black is on sale for $3.99 at Gamersgate (for next 12 hours) and $4.99 on Steam (ends Jan 2nd). My 12yr old son and I have been having a blast with UT 2004 lately and it looks like you can turn off mature taunts and "reduce gore" in UT3, too.

Question #1: Has anyone tried turning off mature taunts? Is it effective? (we only play against bots).

Question #2: Do you guys still play UT 3 regularly? I see that CGA still has a server.

I prefer UT2004 to UT3 (specifically, I prefer UT2004's Onslaught mode to UT3's Warfare mode), but more people play UT3 because it's newer. Of course, I <3 Onslaught, so that's not as negative a statement as it might seem. UT3 for $4 is a fantastic deal.

Yes. Then again, I've never had a 12-year old child sitting next to me, so I imagine I wouldn't pay attention as closely as you might.

Tribe of Judah has a UT3 server, but it's the only Christian-operated UT3 server I'm aware of. ToJ also has a weekly game night every Monday starting at 8 p.m. Central. You can visit the ToJ UT Chapter Forum for more information.

I know that at least one of our regulars (DannyMeister) is out of town and December tends to be a busy month for most people, so it may be January before Unreal Mondays pick back up again.

Thanks for the response. That is good to know. Since I just introduced my son to UT2004 and I don't see a huge difference in the game play (from the videos I have watched) I may just hold off for now and enjoy what we have. I think I like the brighter color pallet of UT2004, too.

Aye, I prefer UT2004's color palette and art style to UT3's as well, but I'd still recommend picking up UT3 for cheap, if only to play with other ToJers on Unreal Mondays. :D
