Digital photo frame recommendations?

I'm hoping to get my parents a digital photo frame for Christmas, but Consumer Reports and CNet Reviews were both less than helpful when it came to research.

Does anyone have any general or specific recommendations for buying a good digital photo frame?

your a working man now, get them an ipad.

seriously tho, I have never found a digital frame i liked, all junk in my experience. So I am curious as well.

And exactly what job do you think I have? :p

So far, I'm leaning toward the Viewsonic VFD823-50, especially since it's on sale with rebate at TigerDirect.

Reviews look better than for most digital photo frames and it doesn't break the bank. (I'm not trying to skimp on my parents' Christmas gift, but hey, I'm not made of money.)

Back to the research...

EDIT: If I was rich, I think I might buy this one.

If they shared that email with the wrong people that could go so badly...

Anyway, I don't know how much money you are trying to spend, but I too have bought my dad a digital picture frame (its a Kodak). I have several issues with it - 1) he never uses it because it always uses power, and he doesn't like that. 2) when he does want to use it, he cannot seem to update the pictures in it (some people just aren't tech-savvy). 3) all of them have very poor menu layouts because there's no standard for picture frames.

My mom has one and shes the same way (her's is a Philips).

(Not to mention the cord running down the fireplace from the mantle is not attractive at all.)

If your parents are anything like my parents (old school and traditional), just avoid the digital picture frame and get them a few good quality pictures of you and your family, the kind of pictures that are always on and require no power.

Someone should do research on this, I bet Digital Photo frame is like a big black hole product that everyone buys for their parents who in turn never use them. I agree with Odale, and put the money towards Snapfish photobooks custom printed for the parents.

I think they would use it since his mom doesn't really use a computer and they want to see pictures of the babbyyyyy. I like the idea of one where we can control the pictures remotely. Less techie stuff they have to do, more techie stuff we'd do for them = more likely it gets used. :) They're just kinda pricey.
