Coordinates?

My house was at x232, z1844 since 1.0. Now I go to those coordinates, and it is not even the same landscape. Did someone change the coordinates? The warp point I made for my home does warp me to those coordinates, but like I said - it's completely different.

Don't know red - I'm not able to log in half the time. Seems to me Mojang should have done a better role out of this. :o(

Hi Flamethrower. We are sorry for your temporary loss. The goal was to restore our 1.5Beta map, Psalms. Last week, we asked everyone to move their inventory into Psalms. When we started the server for 1.0, Psalms did not work :( . We were forced to make a new 1.0 map called cross. Last night we finally got the Psalms map working again. We moved your player inventory from the 1.0 map. I'm sorry that you lost your house in the progress. The 1.0 map (cross) will return, with your 1.0 house, when someone releases a pluggin to allow us to have both maps.

That's cool - it's really not a big deal, I was just curious. You'll have to bear with me, I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff. I have no idea what "Psalms" is, and how things work with various worlds and teleports, etc. I realize my old home is gone, and that's what I expected. I was just saying that I had made one on the new map, then when going back to those coords, it was gone! I had hardly done anything, and it's really no loss. I just liked the landscape where it was.

So - am I able to build now without being in danger of losing progress? If not, when could I expect to be able to do so?

Thanks for all your help and for putting up with my noobidity.

"Attempts to explain something she's not sure she totally understands herself  :D"

When we first came to the new server there were several maps (worlds) up.

- Psalms which is where our TOJ Station, Start Town, and most of our houses were (specifically where your house was red).
- Exodus which I don't think any TOJ People built in, other than at the TOJ Starter Town.
- Sky World which only Guards and admins could building.
- I think there was another one
- Nether

Access to all these maps was made possible by a "plug-in" that allowed us to have multiple maps (worlds) running. By plug-in, it indicates that it is not a feature of the basic Minecraft program. So this plug in allowed us to walk out of Exodus through a portal and end up on Psalms, in doing that we switch maps (worlds).

We knew with the update of Minecraft, the "plug-in" would not be updated right away, so we couldn't keep all the maps (worlds) up at one time. The plan with the update was to take down all the other maps (worlds) and live in Psalms, as it had the most population to start with.

However, Psalms would not work with the new update. So we had to go to plan B and create a new map (world) now known as Cross, named this as random crosses appear throughout the land :).

So we now have the following maps: Cross, Psalms, Exodus, SkyWorld, THEUNKNOWN WORLD, and the nether. If I remember correctly, the plan is that once the plug in is updated, we open all the worlds back up again. Which means, nothing has been lost, just temporarily unavailable. (Think of it as going on vacation ;o))

The only reason a map (world) would be lost would be due to technical difficults between the version the map (world) was generated in and the new version. This would be beyond our control and unavoidabl. At this time, the only world I heard may be in jeopardy is the SkyWorld.

Hope that explains it a little bit anyway and that I'm not complete off in my description of things. If so, I'm sure someone will clear up what I messed up. :o

Unfortunately, the custom authentication /register did not go very well. Most people could not understand how to do it. I tried to make a video tutorial, but the server was too laggy from all the people trying to connect and all the griefing that took place. Not sure if people were able to join who were not supposed to, but the griefing was pretty bad.

Thanks Abea, that helped immensely!

When I created my last home - the dam - I was fully aware that it would most likely be lost upon conversion. I built it with that in mind. If that world can be recovered, great! If not, it's nothing to be upset about. I think really what I want is to have a place to permanently call home, and not be in danger of losing it. Then I could really undertake some large scale projects!

Well, red you have that in a way. The only reason we would loose a world at this point is Mojang creating an upgrade that is not backward compatible with previously created maps. On the other server, we had limitations related to file sizes which is why we would loose our old maps. That is not the case here, at this point.

So build away and pray that the upgrades are always backward compatible. :D

The only way the map files and whatnot would not be backwards compatible is if they completely changed the file type they used or how the file is read... no matter how they change the biome code, it will keep the data of all the things already in existence. In other words... we'd know ahead of time, they post all the big things they're working on somewhere on either twitter, reddit, or tumblr.
