Temp: Food and mining

For all of you guys starting out, food and getting settled is the hardest thing to do. I have mushrooms and wheat if you need it as well as a fishing dock up by Koah Johnson's place.

There are also 2 mines you can use. One is under my house which I give everyone permission to use. The other one I've created signs and a path to that leads to a natural mine. This path comes off of the one that connects both spawn areas.

Just wanted to let you know. I know this world is temporary, and I'm not sure the status, progress, or finalized plans for the new servers, but for now, come on in and have fun!

Old worlds

Just curious, what's the roadblock that prevents us from making the old worlds available? As I've noted before, I really don't care if my building gets moved to the new world. I'd simply love to be able to have the file so I can access it offline.

I'm asking mostly because if the problem is web space, I have a webserver that has tons of free space. I'd be happy to create a folder & ftp account for someone to upload the old worlds. Then we can post links on the forum so people can download.

Hey Pelgrin they are available for download, I'll have someone post the information for you.

I think it's on here somewhere already anyway, just have to find it.

Thanks Koah!

the roadblock would be bukkit hasn't released a recommended build, so we can't use a multi-world plugin to have both gamma and this new world, Advent, running simultaneously.

Hmm... Completely off topic, but... Grey, is it possible to update the Gamma save that's up for download? I've been wondering that myself. -shrugs- I'm kinda bored with SMP right now anyway. I think I might just keep working on my Sky Islands map until the full version is released and it would be nice to have a few updated buildings to toss in randomly. Really I'm fine either way though, just wondering is all.

It may be possible, but the server will need to be down while I zip the file up (which may take a long while, and it has a chance to run out of space, so it may not work at all.) Would also need time to format it into a usable save world file, re-zip, upload, and post link.
It may be a 5 hour or more job.

I could work on it tomorrow, but I need to know you guys really want me to do this.
(Side note: Catakou could do this if I walked him thru it.)

Just curious, what conversion do you have to do? When I ran a server, I just simply moved the World folder. I uploaded an offline map to the multiplayer server simply by dropping the appropriate folder in the right spot. Then after I shut down the server, I simply copied the map to my offline play folder. I had no issues. I was hosting / running on a mac at first and then a linux server though. Maybe Windows handles it differently.

my formatting isn't really formatting, its more or less remove all the folders and files not needed to run the server on singleplayer, all the multiplayer files would go.

It is nearly just like putting a sp map up for mp play, but it just needs to be trimmed.

I see, I see. That doesn't sound like fun, no fun at all. >..< Useful and productive and possibly an interesting way to spend 5 hours if you're really bored? Yes, but not fun. I don't know if I'd consider it worth it if it takes that long and so much work.

:l guess i have to post on this since grey added my name into the convo, anyways..
i think that everyone could wait a little while till bukkit gets updated. otherwise the server my end up being down for a while since grey has too teach me how too do that stuff. which could take a long time.

Still, I raised a question that was never addressed or talked about. Why not just wait for 1.9 for the rest of 1.8's stuff to come out? The Adventure patch *was* split between two big patches.

That should give us a little time. In the meantime, the rail system between Anchor Town and Shepherdville is probably 75% - 80% complete, but that by itself is still a good 7 1/2 minute ride. Might be fun to make a video of the full ride and put some music to it.

Also, if anyone is interested, Anchortown is looking for:
1. Harbor Master - Responsible for making and maintaining a port that faces spawn in case people want to sail over.

2. Conductor - Responsible for helping to complete and maintain the railway system. We also hope to include Spawn in our system.

Yeah, this is only a temporary world and we might not even be able to download this for single player, but we can at least have fun while we're here.

If you still need someone to help out, I'm willing. :D
