USA lost 2-1 Ghana in the 125 minute game.

Ghana scored the first point in the first five minutes of the game, and USA scored just after half-time in a penalty kick. Ghana scored in the first 15 minutes of overtime.

USA and Ghana played very well. Notable players on the American team were the ultra-aggressive Gomez, and the smart Bradley (who also deflected a shot). It was clear that after nearly two hours of playing both teams were worn down, and Ghana was very successful at stalling in the last 15 minutes. All in all, it was a very intense game to watch, and Ghana deserved their win against the U.S.

At least it didn't end up being a 5-2 win for US, reduced to a 2-1 loss by refs. :) Glad to see a good and fair game for once. :)
 
I like the results even though I will take a hammering from my international friends! I believe it is the first time a African nation has made it to the quarter finals. Anyways they played awesome and deserve the win!

To be perfectly honest, I am surprised we were in the World Cup to begin with (because soccer is so popular here.... lol).

I also want to know when soccer (or football) became such a sensation in the US.

When it was obvious that the refs were doing everything they could to steal our games from us. We might not care about a sport where grown men blatantly flail on the ground "in agony" after not even being touched...but don't try to cheat us! :)
 
yeah the U.S. were definitely not as passionate or on the ball as say Brazil always is, always moving, challenging, and fighting.

Since U.S. is out, i have to root for my 2nd team, go spain!
