Guild Money

Hi guild!

I've been thinking about Cataclysm coming up, and there's going to be a lot of new guild abilities and levels and other stuff I'm sure we haven't heard of.

The thing is, we don't know very many concrete details at this point. All I know (unless someone can enlighten me) is that guilds will have privileges, abilities and levels. I assume that at least some of these things will cost money. This is the extent of my knowledge: http://www.wow.com/2009/08/22/blizzc...g-and-talents/

If you'd like, the guild bank would appreciate any monetary donations you'd like to give. You may send these donations to Redmats, or simply deposit directly into the guild bank. This will be completely anonymous, and your decision to donate or not will not affect your standing in the guild in any way.

I just figure it never hurts to be prepared.

Sounds like a good idea :) I suggest even just small daily donations from people who are willing. You do a daily for frost tokens so why not just take that amount and throw it in the bank? 10g a day from lots of people could go a long way if done every day :) It's in the spirit of giving and to help all of Redeemed out!

Ok, quick thought, you are asking for money for something that you don't know about and are not sure if we will want.

Realistically this practice is not very good, more so when the guild has 15k+ already.

srsly, thats not that much with the price of stuff. i donated yesterday, more incoming. if we all chip in a little we will have plenty.

If you would read flame's post it says what it would be going towards :P New guild talents and things for Cat. If we dont end up needing the money then I could see it being used in other ways...like using it for repairs with people for a time. So either way it's a win.

A cool addon Revrog told me about that might help out:

The tithe addon is from Curse. It's called Guild tithe. Simple to use and you can set it up to auto tithe to your guild bank. The default is 5% from raids and 5% for quests.

Yes, I was careful to make that clear in the original post. I'm not trying to mislead anyone here.

I appreciate the feedback, but this isn't really a practice. It's not a guild rule, and like I said, donating will not affect anyone's guild status in any way. I'm simply sharing the information about guilds in Cataclysm that some people may not know. It's an option I'm putting out there for those who wish to participate.

Also, I feel like the 16k we now have (many individual players have much more) will not go very far when purchasing guild abilities and other things in the new expansion. A full guild bank currently costs 9350 gold. I think it very reasonable to assume that guild abilities in the next expansion will cost anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 gold; especially when you take into account how much easier gold is to get with each new expansion.

As the guild banker, I'm doing what I think is best for the guild, trying to make sure we aren't going to be behind the curve. I'm keeping up on leaked information, and will update you once new info on guild purchases is known.

Again, this is a voluntary thing. I'm not even going to look at who donates. I will however, lead by example and am downloading the tithe addon today. I have given you what information is available; you may choose whether or not you'd like to participate.

I love the proactive approach - let's be ready for what Cataclysm has to offer us.

I for one will be grateful when we have all these cool new guild features thanks to some people who thought it would be wise to be stewards ready for the future.

Are our donations receiptable for income tax purposes?

lol sure.

Who are you paying taxes to? I might want to get in on that (collecting them, of course).

@ Goodwone - I think that's the addon. I downloaded it and have been having some trouble with it, still trying to figure it out. Can anyone help me out on it?
