Am I doing something wrong???

So, I finally picked up an additional SATA cable so that I can run 2 HDs and my CD Drive, however, only 2 of my 6 SATA ports seem to work...is there something I don't know, or are those other 4 ports shot... The only reason I think I might be doing something wrong is when I have been shopping for a new MOBO, 2 of the SATA ports tend to be a different color than the other 4 to 6...is there something I don't know??? Below is a badly drawn picture of my MOBO...

Currently looking at this MOBO if I need to replace mine (which I need to replace it anyways due to it being backwards...)

Check your BIOS and make sure all six ports are set to autodetect. I had a problem with my motherboard where one port didn't work so it could just be a bad port, but it's hard to imagine 4/6 going bad.

How did you get 3 BLAH slots in your Computer!? They would only put one in mine!!

How can you guys not be bothered by the fact that you were sold a faulty product?

It doesn't bother me because the one port that failed didn't fail till after 3 years of extremely heavy use. May be a little under the amount of time it should have lasted but it didn't bother me.

The 2 that are different in color are your Slave Sata connectors, Normally 1 HD in Red or Blue then the Slave in the Black, If you try to connect the drive into one of the end connectors it may not work, need to read the manual to be positive or it could be faulty, but doubtful, Hope it works out for Ya :p

I just wanted to say that your diagram is made of win. Other than that, I don't really have anything to contribute to this thread, sorry. :p

actually the two different groups mean two different sata controllers. the top two were one set of ports and the bottom 4 were another different set.
