The bad news: American Idol is now in its eighth season with no sign of ever ending. Aside from the show itself being painful to watch, it's also a symptom that the medium of television is nearly completely bereft of intelligent and creative endeavors. American culture is officially circling the drain. For final proof, see Rock of Love Bus.
Now, for reasons completely beyond my comprehension, my wife--who is a doctor and who I often argue is smarter than me--watches and enjoys American Idol. It doesn't make any sense.
More bad news: The video display on my notebook computer recently bit the dust, leaving me to browse the web, chat, and check e-mails on an antique desktop computer with a 750MHz CPU and 256MB RAM.
More bad news: American Idol is on three times this week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The good news: My wife is letting me borrow her notebook computer, which is capable of running Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead at decent framerates, during American Idol this week.
That means I'll be online and looking to pack as much gaming as possible into the following time slots:
/facepalm
Anyway, I'll be on during the times listed above and hoping to play some TF2, L4D, or Quake Live. (I can play Starcraft even on this antique desktop machine, so I'm saving my gaming time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening for games released after 1999.)
Watch for me on Steam, send me an invite if you get a gaming going, and, if you're a member of Tribe of Judah's Team Fortress 2 chapter, don't hesitate to send invites to a few other ToJers and get our TF2 server hoppin'.
