Trying to Understand Faction

Legacy of Elijah [LoE] - Proud Grandfather
I am trying to figure out what the faction points are all about. I understand that I am a friend of the Kurzicks (I chose that at some point) and our Guild is aligned with the Kursicks, as well. What I don't understand is:

1) the stats portion of our Guild window says we are ranked 994 with 1,740,866 Kursick faction. What does that mean - how do we raise the rank or the faction level?

2) under my titles it says I have 25,470/27,000 Kurzick and that I have earned 78,175 faction on my account. What does that mean and should I start spending faction and how does that affect the Guild faction level? What is the best way to spend faction?

3) it also says that I have 21,435/27,000 Luxon and that I have earned 45,182 faction on my account. What does that mean? I am working on some of the Luxon quests - will it be a problem if my Luxon faction passes my Kurzick faction?

Any insight appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that "ranked 994" refers to our standing (score) in the GvG ladder. I think we played and lost one GvG match in SOE so lost 6 points down to 994 from the starting point of 1000.

The Kurzick faction is a sum total of the Faction transferred by members to each of the individual guilds by their members.

I'm assuming that these numbers are referring to the "faction" tab on the Hero Panel in game and show on the same screen as Balthazar Faction rather than the title tab. The "titles" tab tracks a cumulative record of how much faction you have spent. The "faction" tab tracks your current inventory of faction points, so you currently have 25,470 faction points and have a capability to hold up to 27,000. The capacity starts at 10,000 and increases for various in-game accomplishments. I'm guessing you did "Befriending the Kurzicks" for 10,000 extra and Arborstone 7,000 more, but have not done eternal grove yet.

I would go ahead and spend some before you play further. Holding faction at or near maximum does not offer you any advantages in game. You have many choices for spending faction, donating to the guild/alliance is one of them. You can also buy amber for 5k each, passage scrolls to Urgoz's Warren for 1k each, or once you reach Rank 1 of the Kurzick title, you can buy special PvE only skills that are based on your title rank. Donating to the guild is done in increments of 5k and gives you 10k toward your kurzick title. buying the skills also gives double toward the title.

My recommendation would be donating to the guild until you hit rank 1 of the kurzick title, then buy any Kurzick skills you want. Because of the doubling, this will increase your Kurzick rank the fastest. If you want amber to craft armor though, go ahead and take those. No matter which you decide, you can spend your faction either in House zu Heltzer or our guild hall. Look for an NPC with "[Faction Rewards]" after their name.

3) it also says that I have 21,435/27,000 Luxon and that I have earned 45,182 faction on my account. What does that mean? I am working on some of the Luxon quests - will it be a problem if my Luxon faction passes my Kurzick faction?

Kurzick and Luxon faction accumulate and increase in capacity independent of each-other. So as with the Kurzick side, it looks like you have done "Befriending the Luxons" and the Boreas Seabed mission to increase your capacity to 27k.

There are 2 important things to keep in mind with faction. First, when you spend, you loose UP TO an equivalent amount of faction from the other side (e.g. if you donate 5k kurz to the guild, you will also loose up to 5k luxon or buying a jadite shard from the rewards guy in cavalon will also cost you up to 5k kurz faction). Because of this, it is best to cash in faction completely if you plan to play on the other side of the line. Second, the NPC's in outposts aligned with one side (see the moving blue/red lines on the map) will only talk to you if you have more points with their side, so again, you want to be aligned with the side you are playing in.

You can freely switch without affecting the guild or alliance, but you can't donate Luxon faction to the alliance.

Rambling? - you should see some of the stuff out there on the forums. You can't get a clear statement. This was concise - detailed - and ansewred my questions. You should save your post - I'm sure there are/will be others with the same questions.

I've already bought the amber I need for a set of elite Kurzick armor. I think I'll donate my faction to the guild before I go do any more of the Luxon missions and quests. That should bring me up to rank 1 right away or very quickly.

Thanks for the help.
