Brawler + Nintendo DS + Atlus = win

Atlus recently announced a new title for the Nintendo DS, Tokyo Beat Down.

Tokyo Beat Down is a brawler in the vein of classic titles like River City Ransom, Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Streets of Rage:
This is arcade beat 'em up action at its finest. Hurl enemies into each other, chain together combos, execute special moves and throws, and then let loose on your foes with an arsenal of firearms, ranging from the small to the obscenely large. (Rocket launcher, anyone?) Your enemies don't just die; they flicker into nonexistence. That's right, they flicker! Let the cool rush of nostalgia sweep over you like a river of sweet, sweet gaming refreshment.
I don't own a Xbox 360, so I don't get to play Castle Crashers, but it looks like Tokyo Beat Down should scratch the brawler itch.

Atlus already won a lot of love from fans for creating amazing JRPGs that trade played out fantasy settings and effeminate man-child main characters *coughSquare-Enixcough* for modern locales and characters worth caring about. If Tokyo Beat Down turns out to be even half as awesome as it could be, they'll earn some love from a whole new crowd.

It's possible that the title could be a huge disappointment and I'll be the first to admit that the DS isn't the ideal platform for a brawler, but I think with Atlus as the helm, the game will turn out great.

Whoops someone left out "Final Fight" :p :) . I'm assuming it will have co-op with those game comparisons but I didn't see any mention of it on their site. They do mention something about a patrol system where you talk to people, gather evidence and review files... meh talking to people. I need to beat on something every 10 seconds to get my nostalgic brawler fix :p (the point is moot though I don't have a DS :p). OOOh one of the characters is named "Lewis Cannon" ^.^ they get points for that! Sounds like a name I'd have come up with.
