...also known as "yay, my ears aren't bleeding anymore"...
Anyway, I was lead to this forum where there is a discussion and link to a program that will remove the startup movies.
Yes, it's cracking the client. I don't share this with you lightly. We had a lot of discussion about it in the officer's forums first.
I ran it about two weeks ago, and I haven't had anything negative happen. There's no indication that it resides in memory or triggers punkbuster. I haven't had any account troubles (if someone stole my password...they've been logging in and giving me money!)
Our general consensus was that we've already paid for the game, the program companies that developed it and are responsible for the game we purchased and continue to pay to play have already got their advertising time in. They don't get more money the more times their ad plays. So they're not out anything.
Cracking the client for the purpose of removing the movies does not appear to be against the spirit of what some have linked in the EULA. Of course, it's not written in plain English, so it's hard to tell what Mythic is trying to say
Lastly, I urge you to use this only if you are comfortable with it. If you have reservations or feel convicted to not use it, feel free to never follow the link.
