mail client question

t-bird is not cutting it any longer. Here is what i need.

I need a mail client that can not only let me have multiple independent mailboxes within one window like t-bird but i need to be able to choose which outgoing server i want to use on a per mailbox basis. Is there any mail client that does that?

Case in point:

I want to be able to use my smtp server for my domain mailboxes and i want to be able to use gmail's outgoing server for my gmail account. I use imp for gmail(they use ssmtp for outgoing) and i use pop3/smtp for my domain accounts.
 
Actually, Outlook will let you do that.

Of course, for all my addresses but my work one, I just use the GMail web-client.
 
You can link multiple domains in with the google services. So you can run 1 username across multiple domain names. I ended up doing that as most other services involved creating an account for each domain, ugh. Then gmail can fetch mail via POP (I wish they supported IMAP, then it would genuinely rock for that purpose).
 
Outlook is the only client I know of that can do that.

I haven't used Evolution, but maybe it can accomplish what you're looking to do?
 
Gmail web-based service FTW...no seriously...it is the best, and can do anything...possible even my dishes...hmm...
 
Just out of curiousity, why do you need to send your messages from different smtp servers? In T-Bird you can easily send all your messages through one server with different from fields so what's the point of using different servers?

some of my security mailing lists require the smtp server to be authorized to send mail for that domain via spf. I cannot authorize gmails smtp servers via spf to send smtp mail for my domains.

That makes sense, but I must me misunderstanding what you need. In T-Bird 1.5 you can configure several different SMTP servers and set which server to use an an account by account basis.

outlook dumps all of hte mail into the same area though right? I want to be able to have each account in it's own file area under the same window like i can in tbird.

1.5 is EOL. 2.x does not have that feature. YOu can specify multiple smtp's but only one is able to be used as the default and it's the default for ALL accounts. If you know how to configure it otherwise please enlighten me..<G>

it's been a while since I've done it, but I BELIEVE that you can have it set up to do either way.
 
I'm using 2.0.0.12 at home and it allows configuration of multiple servers and setting them individually for each account. It appears to be the exact same as it was in 1.5.
 
how do you set that then? I've been using t-bird since 1.5 as well and i cnanot get it to set smtp servers for each account.
 
In 2.0.0.12 under Account Settings, The bottom item on the list is outgoing server. Setup everything under there and then you can configure the outgoing server for each account on it's main page. It appears to me to be setup the same way it was in 1.5. Not sure though.
 
yes i see that..however whichever is the default is the one t-bird uses for everything. There's no way i have seen to make it use one server for account a and another server for account b.
