Hi everyone. I'm Raven. I realize that most of you don't know me mainly because I'm rarely on these forums. You can blame my company's Websense Internet filter for that. They block a lot of non-work related sites, including this one. Oddly enough, guildwarsguru.com still gets through though. (Geez, you think they actually want us to work or something?)
So, a little about me. I'm a 30-something mature woman with a full time job. No hubby (know anyone?) and no kids which is how I manage to find the time needed to play this game. Yes, there goes the myth that all GW players are geeky teenage boys. There are a few women scattered thru out the game. You can easily recognize us. We're the ones playing female characters that are actually wearing non-skimpy armor! Yes, with the new insignia upgrades I can hardly wait to buy my female warrior a nice set of Knight's armor with Gladiator insignias so I can ditch this ugly chainmail mini-skirt she's wearing.
I've been asked to lead a few events. I'll be leading an event next Tuesday evening at 8pm EST. (Please show up. Please. Pretty Please!) If this goes well, I'd like to lead a variety of different events once or twice a week. I promise that it will be something different each time and I'll take requests. I live on the east coast so my events will not be at 10pm EST. I'll always try to schedule them around 8pm. I know this isn't convenient for everyone, but hopefully enough people will be able to come.
My first event will be next Tuesday evening at 8pm.
A few months ago, long before hard mode and passage scrolls appeared, I was out exploring Lornar's Pass for the first time. I asked on Alliance Chat where the UW passage was located in Lornar's.
I couldn't believe the responses I got.
"Go to ToA"
"There is no uw in Lornars"
"UW passage?"
"Yeah, it's at ToA or Chantry of Secrets"
"Oh, you mean Sorrow's Furnace. That's in Grenth's Footprint!"
Me: "no, no, no! The UW entrance in Lornar's."
"We don't have favor"
<rolls eyes at monitor>
"There is no UW entrance"
Me: "You don't need favor"
"LOL, you have to have favor to get to fow or uw"
"Go to ToA"
"ToA means Temple of Ages. You can find it in the swamps in Kryta"
"Oh, you meant tombs underworld. Sorry that's in the desert"
<gets up> <bangs head on wall>
"Are you trying to run to Droks? I'll take you there"
"guys, Zin Ku can access UW too. Raven, do you have factions?"
"just wait until we have favor. Only 2 wins to go"
<sits back down> <opens wiki>
Sigh, I may be a newbie, but I already knew for a fact that there was an UW entrance in Lornar's. I just didn't know where in Lornar's. I gave up on alliance chat and found the altar myself. (And yes, I knew what ToA meant!)
Ok, for the uninformed (you know who you are) here's the scoop. There is an altar to Grenth in a remote (yes, remote!) section of Lornar's Passage. If you find the altar and Kneel to Grenth on the altar you will be transported to the Underworld. No favor required. Yes, you read that right. You can reach the UW even if you do not have favor and without using a passage scroll. Apparently this is the best kept secret in GW.
The purpose of this event is to lead a team successfully from Beacon's Perch to the altar. We'll be fighting, not running, our way to the altar so bring a Level 20 character that is prepared to fight off a ton of Avicra, Ice Imps, Ice Golems, Grawl, etc. Our main goal is just to find the altar and marvel at its beauty. We will of course warp into the UW, however I don't know how well our Lornar build will survive there. This is the main reason why it's the best kept secret in GW. It's just not practical for an UW entrance.
Besides tracking down the altar this expedition also offers side benefits to Cartographers, Treasure Hunters and perhaps Vanquishers if we choose to also Vanquish Lornar's at the same time. Hard mode isn't required however and we'll make that decision once we see the exact party makeup. Also, Beacon's Perch can only accommodate a party size of 6. If more folks show up we'll move to a different town or split into 2 expeditions.
I'll be there with my Fire Elementalist, The Amethyst Mage. Any hardy adventurers out there that will join me?
