Starcraft 2 finally announced!

They did the same with Starcraft: Ghost, until they finally took it off for good.

But since Starcraft 2 has been announced, I have no doubt Diablo III will be as well.

It does seem everything compared to the original, has doubled; Missle turrets fire 2 missles at once, battlecruisers are highly advanced as they look robotic, Terran marines have shields like medics, Protoss Dragoons have 2 cannons, etc.

The game truly looks incredibly amazing. The space platforms like exactly like space platforms! To be able to see a planet above you is AWESOME!

When I heard the website was out, I was completely surprised and stunned.

And when the game does come out, I will get the game!
 
at long last.... SC2 is almost here... hmm.... /me sees many sleepless nights in the near future... Just like old times! ;)

Indeed.

Elihu and I played a brief comp stomp of SC1 (going to take a while to get used to adding the "1") on Lost Temple. The computer annhilated me in about 10 minutes, but I still had a blast. Starcraft looks quite strange stretched to a widescreen resolution (from 640x480 to 1440x900), but it was otherwise like riding the proverbial bike.
 
Give me a call when you guys play Starcraft. If I'm free, I'd love to hop on for a game or two. I'm sure I'm rusty, but I love the game!

I never understood why so many people like Starcraft so much. I'm not saying it is a bad game, but, so many other games have come out since that exceed it in terms of gameplay and plotline (I'm not talking about hardware/graphic advancements though, that would be unfair). Admittedly I haven't played that many RTS games, however, as a example, I did play the "Command and Conquer" and "Red Alert" series. They came out both before and after Starcraft doing everything it did and a little more.

I am still waiting on a sequel for Bionic Commando, hehe, so I am not criticizing anyone for liking Starcraft :) I am just asking what did Starcraft do special that made everyone like it so much for so long? Or if you prefer "what's all the hubbub bub?" :p

On a side note I did not like C&C, but, I liked the campy story in Red Alert 2 :p

I think the fact why people were so interested with Starcraft was because it is a RTS in Space. Even though, C&C:Tiberian Sun is in space too, the look of the game is superb, back then of course.

When I played the game for the first time, I was hooked into it. Interested to find out everything about the game.

Maybe it's time to revive the op cga channel on US East. Anyone want to run a bot? I've got the username and password for the account cga on both US East and US West (unless it's expired since I last used it, which is entirely possible).

I'm psyched too. And with the long dev. time, albeit with a small crew of developers, it may be arriving sooner than you think! Say, do you think there will be a Korean launch before there is a US launch? That would be something...
 
can it run under linux?..i can run it on the cga server if it can run under linux..<G>

Or i can reload the cga server with centos 5 and emulate windows inside of linux and run it there..hehehhe

Hm, I don't know if there's a Battle.net bot for Linux. I'll try to research that soon and get back to you. It would make sense to run it on the CGA server.
 
..... o darn..... i just remember.... i need to buy Starcraft... dang it... my old days of piracy... i didn't actually own that game.... CURSE MY OLD LIFESTYLE.
