Now my pally is on ly 64, but I would like to discuss the roll of pallies in the heroic dungeons.
"Illumination": This talent now only gives 50% of the mana cost of the critical heal. It also now returns the correct amount of mana when used with ranks 4 and 5 of "Holy Shock".
With this nerf in mind, I still think I can MH the non-heroic instances. I will simply have to have healing pots for boss fights and fights where several people are taking damage. I already do, but they will become mandatory to get the job done, instead of bringing them in case all hell breaks loose.
With the heroics in mind, I do not believe I could MH a heroic dungeon if this nerf goes live. I could respec and regear for MTing, and probably do fine that way, but our guild seems to have a surplus in tanks anways.
The question I have then is whether there is room for a healadin in heroics anymore? Is it acceptable to have a off healer/off tank that isen't great at either? I can buff, judge seals for the situation, but my dps is terrible. I could provide extra healing, but a feral druid could do that too. On fights where you know you will need extra healing the druid puts on some healing gear, does the healing when needed and can still contribute much more dps than a holy paladin can. My slot could be filled with a crowd control/dps class eliminating the need for extra healing.
I can only assume that there will be specific battles where extra healings/tanking would be an asset, but from what I have read and heard the dps/cc option is better overall.
Am I overreacting? Some input from more experienced guildies would be appreciated, cus if I am going to continue with the pally class I would like to know what my role will be and whether there will be a demand for that role in the future.
This is not a QQ thread, just questioning the purpose of my class/spec in future content.
