N/Me Midnight Solo - Sskai

DZwart

Legacy of Elijah Officer
I found this build on GuildWiki for a N/Me solo farmer of the warrior and probably assassin bosses (boss only, no groups) in the game. So far I have been able to kill Sskai, Dragon's Birth about a dozen times with about a 75% success rate. Unfortunately, that slimy snake still hasn't dropped his sword for me.

Attributes:
Illusion: 10
Domination: 6
Inspiration: 6
Curses: 12+1+3

Weapon: not really important since you will be blind most of the time. A staff, wand or melee weapon with a +ene mod is best to give you a larger pool to keep the hexes going.

Skills:
Signet of Midnight {Elite} - Mez - No att
Ignorance - Mez - Domination
Parasitic bond - Nec - Curses
Conjure Nightmare - Mez - Illusion
Spirit of Failure - Mez - Inspiration
Price of Failure - Nec - Curses
Reckless Haste - Nec - Curses
Mantra of Resolve - Mez - Inspiration

Usage (for Sskai):
Head out of Zos Shivros Channel into Boreas Seabed. Run between the Kraken and Outcasts directly to the sandy hill. Too far to the left and you will agro a lone kraken. Too far to the right and a group of Oni spawn. Watch Sskai and the nearby group of Naga. When they rush together, see which side Sskai goes. Your best chance is when he is separated from the group. If he is right on top of the group, I usually start over.

Run to whatever side is closest (there is another kraken near the north side). Hit the stance and wand/staff attack to pull Sskai only. If the rest of the group follows, run until they break aggro.

The most important thing is to keep him blinded, hit the Signet of Midnight as soon as it recharges. Reckless haste should be second priority for the additional 52% miss rate. Spirit/Price of Failure are next priority for the additional miss rate and the energy spirit gives you followed by Price's damage. Next priority is parasitic bond, but don't recast until the first has healed you. Finally, hit Ignorance as often as possible to disable his healing signet. Last, the Conjure Nightmare is used when all other skills are recharging to degen Sskai faster.

I've managed to kill Geoffer Pain Bringer a few times too, but he's a little more work since you can't really pull him alone. Instead you have to go far enough on the south of him to activate a group of naga to come in and fight. Then watch the fight with a few hexes to "encourage" Geoffer, but not his allies. The goal is for Geoffer to be the only one left. He hasn't given up his shield for me yet either.

Thanks, Derk. I pulled Sskai by himself about 5 times before I finally killed him.

A fun build. You could take a Monk with you to two-man him and kill him every time you pull him alone I suspect.

You could perhaps do this with a Me/N also.

Anyone with a healing Monk want to try two-manning Sskai just let me know. Or you could bring the N/Me and I will supply the Monk.

One other solo option might be to pay for the Blessing of the Luxons outside the gate from the priest. Cost is 100g for the blessing and 50g more if you need to bribe the priest. I think the 2 man is a more surefire too and faster to make a second attempt with a rebirth/rez.

The build does take a little practice. I tried a couple times last night again and didn't get him. With Blind and all the hexes active, he should only have a 2.7% chance to hit you, but he always seems to get a hard hit in before the blind goes active and often manages to overcome the blind before the other hexes are on him.

I did the Sskai run several times today with a two man crew. It was a Warrior and my SS Necro.

Every time we pulled him from the group (about 80% of time) we killed him fast. I would let warrior take aggro then cast SS, Ignorance, and Price of Failure on him in that order. He would be dead about the time SS recharged.

The warrior pulled him with a bow and I don't know what skills he used. Warrior's health was down to about 1/3 when Sskai died each time.

Bosses have a reduced duration for hexes and conditions.

In Tyria bosses have a reduced duration for hexes and conditions. In Cantha, bosses do double damage from attacks and skills. Sskai hits hard when he hits, but blind lasts just as long as the signet recharge.
