prayer request

Hello all.

If you see me in game, I'll probably be a bit slow in communicating. I broke my wrist badly this morning, and go in for surgery tomorrow to have a pin put in. As a computer programmer, this is a huge deal, so please pray for a quick and complete recovery.

Fortunately, it's my left wrist, so it could have been much worse.

just noticed I misspelled the title...typing like this is tough :)

I was working in the church's kitchen spraying for ants, and slipped on the tile floor. Nothing heroic or exciting, unfortunately. :)

I will also make sure and pray...

Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Ouch...

A friend of mine fell off a chair around Christmas, while we were taking down decorations from a party, and broke her ankle. Not a great experience...

And you're a programmer? :-/ (Cool job though :D)

Will pray, definitely. How long do they expect the wrist to be out of commission?

Consider yourself prayed for. (Awesome job, btw, I always wanted to do that, meaning comp programmer, not breaking wrist)

Praying for you. If I read that correctly, your surgery is today (Monday). So, praying for a successful surgery with no complications, followed by a speedy recovery!

We will be praying for you and won't mind you being the "strong silent" type for a while. At least with us you could use a head set and team speak in the mean time. "Look mom, no hands!" Do you have a cast? Has your 5yld writen all over it yet? :)

Well, I'm back froim surgery. Everything went great. I'll have the pins in for about 4 weeks, then a small splint for another two. I can go back to work whenever I feel up to it, although my coding speed will be somewhat diminished.

Thanks for your prayers.

As a computer geek myself I know just how tragic and frustrating it must be to loose functionality of your hand. Not fun. Praying for a fast recovery.

How's it going? I know you said the other night that you could feel the pins (again, OW), but how about an update?

And if you use short words and simple sentences with lots of abbreviations, we won't hold it against you!

LOL

I'm back at work now. The first day has been pretty painful since I can't rest it like I can at home. The cast helps a lot, but the pins are still really uncomfortable (I won't go into detail).

All in all, I'm fortunate and blessed. The surgeon said the bone fit back together like there wasn't a fracture at all, and everything seems to be going very smoothly.

Thanks for the prayers - I'm certain that's why things have gone so smoothly.

Next time I'm in ts I'll have to discuss pins and tendons and nerves, and how they relate together. ;)

Glad to hear you're healing so well! It's wonderful to have the Great Physician on the case, isnt' it? ;)

Thank you!

Please don't. I have way too much empathy; you will make me hurt.

i hate it when mesmers use empathy... it does hurt

Empathy - The action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner.

empathy does not hurt!

Yes, it can. When people tell me about injuries or show them to me, I sometimes hurt in response. So I prefer no graphic details. Seriously.
