Yearly dedicated server hosting renewal ($395) due August 20

Well, it's that time again.

Our hosting provider, Abba Communications, has set us up with an excellent dedicated server hosting plan on some very nice hardware. We pay only $395 USD a year for the service.

Our billing cycle is just about up and it's time to pay for next year's hosting. The Christian Gamers Alliance community is funded 100% by donations, so I'm calling for community members who are financially able to donate after tithing to your local church to consider donating $5 USD or more toward our expenses.

Outlook popped up a reminder today that the dedicated server hosting renewal is due next Friday (August 20, 2010).

We currently have $339.63 USD, which leaves a minimum of $55.37 USD remaining to cover our dedicated server hosting expense for the next year. Obviously, I don't want to zero out the account since we have additional expenses (e.g. domain name, forums package upgrades), so any donations above and beyond $55.37 will be applied to future expenses.

Payment is due Friday, August 20. As of the time of this post, our Paypal account contains $396.83 USD. The good news is that we have enough to pay our bill on Friday. The bad news is that we'll have $1.83 USD left over after the bill is paid. That's a somewhat nerve-wracking margin.

I'd like to have at least $20 USD left over in the account by next week. Our domain name renewal isn't due until next May, but I'd like to have the money in our Paypal account well in advance since the Alliance doesn't have a Fundraising Manager (those over 21 and interested in helping: read here for more information) and the fewer times I have to post fundraising reminders, the better. I've learned a number of skills over the years, but fundraising has never been my strength.

I just paid our yearly dedicated server hosting expense. We now have $11.24 USD left in the CGA Paypal account. We'll have an additional $9.41 USD (bringing the total to $20.65 USD) once an eCheck clears. Paypal states the eCheck should clear on or before August 25.

So we're all paid up for hosting until August 2011, but it's never too soon to start donating toward the next billing cycle. If not for the regular monthly donations we receive from supporting community members, fundraising this time around would have been much more difficult.
