Ubisoft's new DRM on their future games

Have you read on the internet that Ubisofts future games will
require constant internet connection to play the games and if
your internet connection gets cut off then the game pauses
until your online. Now if Ubisoft put's that type of DRM on
Assassins Creed 2 and Splinter cell conviction then even though
these games got a release date I will pretend these games
are at the "When it's done" stage like Duke Nukem Forever has
been until they make these games offline enabled.

What are your thoughts on Ubisofts new move?

I'm skeptical.

Have a link to a reputable news source to back up the claim?

Which brings me to the next questions:
  1. Will Assassin's Creed II be available on Steam? (Yes, it will.)
  2. If so, will the Steam version of AC2 come with this new DRM tacked on?
I'm not seeing any mention of DRM on the AC2 Steam product page, but I would want explicit word from Ubisoft confirming that the Steam version won't have additional DRM tacked on.

Of course, I haven't played AC1, I'm not very fond of stealth gameplay (sorry, don't have the patience or attention span these days), and my notebook computer probably wouldn't run the game very well, anyway.

I actually didn't play AC1 very stealthily at all. The fighting system was really easy to figure out, and the one hit special kills made it a breeze to mow down gaurds.

In AC1 it basically turns into GTA with swords in order to avoid insanity from repeating the same exact missions dozens of times over. They should have just made AC into a movie; it barely has enough content to fill 3 hours.
