2 Corinthians 4:18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
It can be difficult to maintain an eternal perspective with places to go, people to meet, and bills to pay. It's especially difficult--if not impossible--if we don't make a point to read Scripture every day.

Life gets busy and it seems the first thing to fall by the wayside is reading Scripture and attending local church services. Why? Because we don't see God with our physical eyes, but we do see our boss or employees, family, and friends. When schedules get full and we have to decide which task to drop first, we figure that no one will hold us accountable for skipping our Bible study for one day--but forget to make that phone call or neglect to mail payment for that bill and there will most definitely be consequences.

This verse isn't advocating neglecting our responsibilities to our local church, job or business, family, friends, or community. Instead, it reminds us to keep our focus on the unseen--on God, loving Him, and serving Him--first. If we follow Paul's command in this verse, the rest of life has a way of falling into order.

EDIT: Also, I apologize for not posting last Tuesday! I've added a reminder to my Outlook calendar for Monday nights/Tuesday mornings, so I'm less likely to forget now.
