Job 13:20-23
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
20 Only grant these two things to me, God,
so that I will not have to hide from Your presence:
21 remove Your hand from me,
and do not let Your terror frighten me.
22 Then call, and I will answer,
or I will speak, and You can respond to me.
23 How many iniquities and sins have I committed?[a]
Reveal to me my transgression and sin.
It's been a rough week, no water at our house for a week, so in order not to feel sorry for myself I check out Job. This passage is from a portion called Job's despondent prayer. Note Job doesn't ask for relief but for God's presence, and not to be frightened of God so he can listen to God and speak to Him. No matter the issues facing us the important thing is not just relief from the problems, but open communication with God.
