Tablets!

I think I will be in the market for a tablet soon. Therefore, I need input!

What is the best tablet for around $350?

Thus far I've been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 and the Google Nexus 10.

What I want my tablet to be is:

- Fast and can do anything (so I think that excludes the iPad, if that doesn't then the price sure will...)
- Cheap! Around $350 and definitely no more than $400.
- Keyboard (or some such) compatible. I'll be using this for classes in grad school (see below).
- Energy Efficient. It will need to be able to sit for long periods of time without having to be plugged in (so a Bluetooth keyboard might be ideal for the keyboard requirement?).
- Needs to have at least a 10" screen. Seven inches seems small, but I've never owned a tablet before.

Thoughts? Gooooooo

I have to admit that I dunno what the library is.

Also, the iPad mini looks cool. It's 8" screen isn't too shabby (comparable to the Nexus 7). But it costs $329. That's still in my budget, but that's also $129 more than the Nexus 7.

Edit: Keep in mind I'll be using this to take notes in class, review power points with, etc. So is the screen size too small?

Thoughts?

I was talking to a friend of mine from school and she bought an Asus transformer back when they came out.

This conversation almost sold me on the Transformer TF300... The dock (which turns it into a laptop, or netbook) adds battery life and a decently-sized keyboard.

The downside is that the tablet itself is close to $379 and the dock is another $120.

Choices choices. Perhaps Black Friday will make things easier.

Asus or acer. Have had the acer a500 and have the asus tf101.Also loving the fact that the I am posting this from my tablet and the forums are in tablet/mobile mode.

It also depends if you don't care about a proprietary connector, as opposed to the micro or mini usb. Also whether you want to have an HDMI, microsd, usb port for like a thumb drive.

I'm definitely leaning Android (4.0 or 4.1) and away from Macs. I want to be able to manipulate it myself Apple doesn't condone that.

Another reason I'm leaning Android is because the Asus Transformer TF300 is amazing (and its currently only $319 on Amazon).

I think the 8" screen will be too small, and I can't justify paying that much for an *mini* iPad.

I found this at Newegg.

Both items are refurbished and non-refundable (which makes me nervous), but both have a pretty good return policy.

I need opinions on refurbished items from Newegg, or are they refurbished from Asus... I dunno? Is it worth the $155 savings for simply buying an older tablet instead of the newer versions of both items?

When I have gotten refurbished stuff, it has been manufacture refurbished. Both are officiallcy supported by CyanogenMod (stable releases for both are out, which means you can pretty much do whatever you want as far as customizing the OS). The TF300 has probably a better screen and it does have a Tegra 3 as opposed to the Tegra 2. It really comes down to if you want to spend that $155 or not. I have the TF101 and it can play FIFA 12 fine, but some 720p videos it can struggle with (it has gotten better with software updates that better utilize the hardware). I like the TF101, but it was free to me so I can't complain :) . It just comes to money.

Woot.com was selling a refurbished Transformer tablet with keyboard attachment for $300 recently. I don't suppose you saw the deal and jumped on it, Odale?

So im posting from my new asus transformer (actually its refurbished but i honestly cannot tell)!

Loving it!
