James 1:5, HCSBNow if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.
Our natural inclination in any situation is to devise a solution through our own logic and reason. Unfortunately, our perspective is woefully limited, tainted by the sin nature, and often uninformed.
God offers wisdom to those who will ask, but many still either refuse to ask or simply don't think to do so. Even after receiving salvation--a priceless gift we could never earn--we often go about our lives thinking, "I need to figure a way out of this."
Let us take a step back, review God's promises, and humble ourselves to ask for His wisdom. It would be folly to believe that we could solve all our problems ourselves. It's also folly to believe that others can or should solve our problems. Instead, let us, in meekness, ask for wisdom from the Lord, not abandon our logic, reason, or responsibilities to others, but merely submitting them, as all things, to God.
