Setting Up GuildAds (Revision 108)

Pirate!
Great! if you've already gotten GuildAds downloaded, installed, but not setup, this is the post for you!

Please Note: Guild Ads 2.0 Beta (Revision 108+) requires the ACE Addon. GuildEventManager is not required, but couples nicely with GuildAds. This quick setup/walkthru assumes that you have GEM installed and activated.

Firstly, log in. Wait for all the mods to load. It may take upto 30 seconds for everything to initialize.

Next, look around your minimap for the GuildAds icon; it looks like a little scroll

index.php

It could be anywhere around the map, or maybe burried under other icons - so just look for it. After you find it, Right Click on it, which will bring up the Channel options. Fortunately, this page doesn't require any setup in most cases. (Advanced users wishing to add character data from unguilded chars need to use manual configuration, channel "theforgiven"; no password)

Next, click on the "Trade Tab" at the bottom and make sure all four boxes are checked.

Lastly, click on the Events Tab

If your mod doesn't have the two channels listed in mine ('asgagem' and 'theforgiven') type them into the first box and click "ADD". Don't worry about the other options - those are for more advanced setups.

Sweet! Now you're rocking. With the basics set up, you're now ready to start using the GuildAds mod.

I'll eventually add more things here, but until then, here's some of the basics:

To start, LEFT click on the GuildAds icon that we used earlier to set the options.

The Guild Tab
This is where you can see the other members that are using GuildAds.
Notice that some names have a G in brackets and some do not. The ones in the brackets have the newer versions of GuildAds installed and are transmitting data. You can see their gear, skills, and ads.

To see someone's gear, right click their name, then click Inspect

The Events Tab
This one has a LOT of information on it. Basically, we can schedule events that are available to either TF Members only, or we can schedule events that are open to the entire SGA.

index.php

In this example, I've got the weekly TF UBRS run scheduled for April 21st, 7:30pm selected. You can see that I scheduled it with Herekitykity (my druid) and that it's a TF-only event (Look at the 'Channel: theforgiven'. If it says 'Channel: asgagem" then it is an SGA event.)

You can click on the other tabs (Limits and Subscribers) for more information about a specific event. You can also sign up for an event by clicking Subscribe. It's greyed out on my screen because I created the event, and I am already signed up for it. If you accidently subscribe to an event, or find out later that you cannot go, you just click "Renounce" This is greyed out because I cannot renounce my own attendance without cancelling the event.

Sorry I couldn't get the pictures to link directly into this post. I'll work on it more later. I had to repost this because I didn't have access to edit the old post, and much of the information was outdated.

As always, if you have any problems, please feel free to ask in game or here on the forums.

What version of ACE are we using now? It keeps showing up as out of date in my mods list, and my dependents aren't working. However, ACE 1.3 is what keeps showing up in the GA packages linked in the forums.

Adam,

Is there some permission settings that's keeping me from editing a post after someone replies to it? I didn't notice anything specific for this post (yet) but was going to try to keep up one place instead of having to re-copy links each time.

Also, is there any way to find the direct filename for the pictures if they're in an album on the site? All I can seem to come up with is Module links, which dont' end in a file format...which is what I think it's keeping the pictures from showing up and making links instead.

I am not aware of a permissions issue regarding editing your own posts but I will forward that to the site admin. As for direct filenames under the photoshare module on our site, I am not aware of a way. You might want to try an image hosting service like http://imageshack.us/

Alright. right now, I'm using Sheri's webserver to host pictures, but it's not really easy to get stuff uploaded (maybe i'm just a newb). photobucket and imageshack didn't seem much better, plus they have limits on their bandwidth, IIRC. I'll probably just stick with Sheri's site and learn how to do it ;)

The other option is to make a separate album under our site for each site as I believe you can like an album individually, just not the stills inside the album.

** EDITED **

Randy, if you edit the album and change from gallery to thumbnails, then each photo individually is linkable.
