An unassuming-looking note in the latest XBLA release schedule bears unimaginably weird news. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is getting new DLC to add online multiplayer on August 19. Just as a reminder, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World was released almost exactly two years ago.

This is perhaps the most welcome news we didn't expect to see today.

Making it even better: the 400 MSP ($5) pack also includes a new character, Wallace Wells, who doesn't really even need weapons to hurt people. Presumably he'll be taking a break from his in-game mystery shop while he's fighting.

Update: Ubisoft PR rep Alex Monney clarified that the DLC is coming to both XBLA and PSN, promising "More details at a later date."
If the DLC is the same price on PSN, I will very likely buy it.

Anyone else planning to do the same?

The new Scott Pilgrim vs. the World DLC, which adds online multiplayer and a new playable Wallace Wells, won't make its original release date – something you might have noticed already, given the XBLA release date was yesterday.

Ubisoft did not offer Joystiq a reason for the sudden delay, but did clarify a new release window. "The DLC for Scott Pilgrim will be releasing this fall," an Ubisoft rep told us. "The PSN version will release during that same timeframe. We'll have more information as we get closer to launch."

You've been waiting two years for this; you can probably wait a bit longer.
