the minimum requirements are a lot more forgiving than I thought they'd be

really? even the minimum stuff is hard... i think i will barely be past the minimum requirements and "about" the recommended... *Cry* my computer is getting out of date... *cry*

As I thought, my P4 3.2 GHz is going to be the main bottleneck of my system. Still though, I make minimum specs, so maybe with all the settings on low, I can still run at my regular resolution.

8 GB of hard drive space is pretty crazy though. Although with all the maps and stuff I have, my 2k4 install is currently about that size...

Full text of Mr. Rein's post, for those in a hurry:
Folks,

Just wanted to give you a heads' up that we're getting pretty close to releasing the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo for Windows. The Beta Demo will allow instant action play against bots as well as online multiplayer. The purpose of the Beta Demo is to test the game on a large variety of hardware configurations and get gameplay feedback from the community. The development team feels they're pretty close to being ready to release this so it could come out this week but for safety sake I'd say it should be out within two weeks.

We have a few fan sites in tomorrow to play the full game and I'm sure they'll be sharing their comments pretty soon afterward.

im over and above those specs and its stll crashing to the desktop. then again its all AMD and ATI parts which are not listed as being great supporters during the startup

What are your system specs? Do you have the latest drivers for your video card? If Dual Core system do you have the dual core hotfix from Microsoft for Windows XP? Dual core optimizer from AMD?

Your team's intelligence has been dropped.

Ah, the joys of computer gaming. :P Well, it *is* just a Beta, it wasn't guaranteed to work on everybody's machines. Maybe just sit tight 'n wait until a real demo comes out?
