Name of Guild

I am thinking about getting WoW so i am not in yet...but i heard recently the name of the guild or whatever you call it in the game and i thought...that it is something embaressing to be in (no offense the the maker of the name) but that isnt the name of a guild i would want to be in while in a guild...i think the name was like Choose Joy or something like that...just thought maybe we could thing of something a little smarter for there are lots of us and many minds can think of something great

Well, if the intent was to get people to look, it worked.  You looked.

besides...blizzard decided to do an axe job on our last name: GodsPeons. Which I thought was clever.

The name is not designed to reflect the members of the guild.
Personally, I think it fits in pretty well, but I can certainly understand why you wouldn't think so. I definately think it's something that grows on you, though.

I do not like the name either, but I can't disagree with Bowser about it. I think the intent is to stand out in a certain way and make a statement, and "Choose Joy" does accomplish that better than other names could.

I do believe that we might be using MSC or Commissioned for our horde guild.

I'm not a fan of the name either...but what's in a name? I haven't joined because of its name, but because of what kind of people I'm around. I'm sorry to say this but, if your decision is based on its name then good luck.

.seek.

I wasnt a fan of the original name, nor am i a fan of Choose Joy. GodsPeons didnt sound nearly serious enough for me, however, now that i understand what a peon is..... it did fit, but you shouldnt have to explain what a peon is. choose joy reminds me of my mom too much, sounds like somthing she would say hehe. But the name, whether i like it or not needs to be a good name, with good allusions to Christ and the Father. Im trying to not be so picky

Has a name been chosen?

Can a name be changed? (not that I am saying it should be, but helps to know)

From the looks of it we might should call ourselves the "Corys".

...kk well, now that i understand the intent of the name i get it more...and i agree with whoever said it is something like what my mom would say lol yes i agree it seems like it something my mom would say....but that is okay...i understand too that GodsPeon was not allowed in the game since religious things are not allowed in the game:( ...but still maybe we could have named it ToJ or something that is what i thought it would have been named but that is okay when i get the game i will just grow into it...since i dont have game yet...have to wait for school to end...dont want to mess up my grades LOL....

It's a name that brings sad memories to me because of a lost fiancee. But I did get a tell in game about our guild. The guy wondered how many people were in our guild because he saw a lot of "Choose Joy" members.

So the name is catching attention.

Nobody online has hammered me about the guild name, at all.  And I have invited tonnes of people to join a party to do quests.   I have gotten lots of kind words for being a team player and how they haven't met people so kind as us (usually I'm partied with my bro).

Even my brother has said that nobody has bugged him about the name and he has told me that he has made a great deal of acquaintances online.  And he has mentioned that the people he parties with give him kind words for his effort to help them go back and get that forgotten quest item in the farthest reaches of a cave, where most people say "you forgot that, too bad, get it yourself."

I think we are having a positive effect on the Illidan server, unlike any other guild.  I was reading a thread about guilds on Illidan on WoW boards and people are bashing all of the guilds except ours.  But then, ours isn't listed anywhere.

And the name itself "Choose Joy" is so radically different then all the other names out there, it can't help but stand out like a sore thumb. Last night I think there was 20+ members on. I kept running into Choose Joy in every capital city I visited, in the countryside at small outposts. Odd enough, at Thelsamar, four of us bumped into each other, even though we were doing different things.

"Don't worry, be happy", "Choose Joy"

lol, that's cool, Cory

The name is "Choose Joy", and as far as I know it cannot be changed.  We would have to buy a new charter (which isn't expensive) and have everyone sign it to form under a new name.
I'm kind of confused about how many people actually like the name though.  I feel that I'm getting vague answers from the people I ask, so I'm really having trouble deciding whether we should change or keep it. Shall or shant I?

Then how about this. Create a forum poll to get an idea and encourage everyone to vote. I might suggest having something similar to the following

1. Let's just keep it as Choose Joy
2. I want it the Mustard Seed Consipracy
3. Let's vote on a different name
4. I'll be cheap and stay neutral on this one

Then just go with the majority. If they choose 3, then go through the thread that has the name suggestions, find ones that look good (and seem popular), and make a forum poll with those choices.

By doing it this way, you're getting a feel of what people like and what they don't like without having to find and ask each and every person.

Its just an idea, bit it would certainly help.
