Yeah, that's right, this is my 1337 post!
I've been holding off posting it for a couple days until after my wife and I had a chance to talk to our parents so I could include an exciting bit of news.
Some of you may be aware that my wife and I have made the decision to open our home to a little girl, aged 1.5 to 5yrs, and that after working with our social worker from Bethany Christian Services decided on an international adoption from Haiti.
After 14-1/2 months of paperwork, classes and waiting, we received a phone call on Monday from our social worker that our family had been selected from 3 who had expressed interest in a special case. Two girls, age 8 and 3, although not biologically related, had been raised as sisters. The orphanage wanted to keep these 2 girls together and we are looking forward to welcoming them both into our family which already includes our biological sons, now age 9 (in 7 days, anyway) and 6.
We're still waiting for the official paperwork (referral letter) from the orphanage, so we don't know too many details yet on the timeline. We've been told that the process can take up to a year before they can come home, but they've found ways (with an extra visit to Haiti) to cut some time out of the process. Our best case estimate of timing would be that they'll be home in time for Christmas.
Please pray that the process goes smoothly and that all our children (and us parents) adjust well to the upcoming changes.
