well, guess what I learned today in Latin...
in the Roman times, Christians were persecuted. thus, a "secret signal" was devised. if you were Christian, and you thought someone else was Christian, you'd walk up to them, say hi, and swing your foot in a semicircle, tracing the ground with your toe in a discreet manner so you make a ( in the dirt. if the other man was a Christian, and he knew what he was doing, he'd do the same thing on his end, and you end up with the fish.
interestingly enough, IXOYE is Greek for fish (ichthys, as in ichthysaurus, the dinosaur that looked like a fish.... sorta) (the O is actually that one that looks like an O with a - through the middle... kinda like this (-) .....)
also, IXOYE is an Acronym...
Iesus
Xristos
Oeos
Yios
Ewtnp
I've given the closest English letter...
what it translates to is:
Jesus
Christ (well, literally, "messiah"/"savior")
God
Son of (as in "Son of God"
Savior
pronounced:
Iesus
Kristos
Theos
Huios
Soter
how interesting....
