L4D2 for free until tomorrow

I saw this earlier today but Steam is bombing as people overload it. I did hit the install button but I can't be sparing the bandwidth right now so I stopped it at 30 megs. Does anyone know if you have to completely install it to get it free?

Also If you do have to download it I don't understand Valve's logic. Don't they know by now what happens when you ask hundreds of thousands of players to download something on one day only? Even if you don't require the download to own it players are still going to XD.

Side note: LFD2 has quite a bit of language in it. A Toj member even had a partial language filter constructed at one point. Just an FYI.

Mine wasn't so much partially created. The add-on works on local games and some custom servers that allow such add-ons:

If you want a more complete solution, you can replace the actual sound files by extracting the replacer sound files into your sound directory:

The only issue I have noticed is an annoying screech that I think plays when the game is expecting a sound of a certain length and only finds my blank replacer file. Another member was working on a version that just muted the offending words but it seems to have fallen by the wayside:

So you actually finished it Patriot? That's great :) . I wasn't really paying attention to the progress because I never intended to have the game. I could be getting it confused with the LFD1 too.

It was finished.

Of course, if you used the zipped version, any patches to the sound files could potentially overwrite the changes. But in theory it could be unzipped into the folder again. If they added additional DLC then any included sound files would not be covered by warranty (this is what happened to the first iteration - I released shortly before they did a slew of DLC content with thousands of additional sound files). That being said, I don't think additional DLC is likely now.
