"Keeping the lights on" or Christian Gamers Alliance 2006 fundraising

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
It's been almost a month since the Christian Gamers Alliance web site and forums moved from Go Daddy to a dedicated server hosted by Abba Communications. hescominsoon's bumps and bruises have healed nicely, the forums are running at top speed, and the CGA TeamSpeak server has 100 slots ready for community members to chat it up.

Of course, with the shiny new server comes a heftier bill. We were paying Go Daddy $9.99 USD a month. One year of dedicated server hosting will cost us approximately $425 USD a year, or about $35 USD a month. That's an increase of $25 USD a month.

This may sound like a scary number, but at last count, we have about 460 active forum users. ("Active" meaning that a user has logged in in the last 90 days.) We don't need a lot from a little. We need a little from a lot. Here are some numbers to consider:

If 10% of all active forum users donated $5 USD a month for a year, donations would total $2,760 USD before Paypal fees and about $2,511.60 USD after.

Now you all know that I'm not going to "rattle the tin cup" or tell you that God will multiply your donation back to you so you can buy a new SUV. But if you believe in the vision of the Christian Gamers Alliance, can pay your taxes and bills and live comfortably, and are already giving financially to your local church, then please prayerfully consider donating to help us "keep the lights on" and keep our server running.

Well, I'm still waiting till Paypal gets my money through, in order to contribute...

Americans takes a few days to get it in, Canadians takes a few weeks to get it in...

lol! I don't think that's how it's supposed to work. Your returns from God's work aren't always financial, anyway. There are many many other areas of your life that can be blessed without getting a check in the mail.

Paypal eventually sets up for instintaineous bank withdrawals. They set mine up after about the 5th purchase... Of course that will depend on bank policy.

Well, I'm still waiting, but at least I can donate to a few people at once since they deserve to be donated.

Actually, it says it should be in by Thanksgiving day (Canada). :(

For a possible note, I would like CGA to be running for years to come. After all, I've been here for 4 years on the forums and 7+ years around Christians, even though I am not a Christian. Live on, Christians, live on!

And yes, that is the best time I am on-line on the weekdays. ;)
