Is Boasting Always Bad? Because...

After doing some digging, I found that some broken files being executed during Windows startup were causing my brother's computer to hang (couldn't even get into Safe Mode). The system would not respond to even holding the power button (and it's a laptop, so pulling the plug was not an option). Anyway, I hunted down a take on Linux that would let me boot from USB device (he has one of those laptops that lack any form of disk drive /smh). Then, I used Midnight Commander to tend to the problematic files.

The system now boots and loads Windows just fine.

I'm sure this is nothing new to a lot of you, but--though I've brought back computers from far worse conditions--this is the first time I've gone about this particular task in this fashion.

And I'm pretty proud of my success. :P

That's my story. Thanks for reading. :) You can go about your business. Move along.

I'm pretty sure it says boasting when you fix a computer problem is ok in the Bible, probably somewhere in the back somewhere. It also probably says brace yourself for something else to break once you do :p .

Good eye, guys. I looked it up. Found it in oft-excluded book I Tekias, verses 2:12-13. I'm translating this from the Elvish myself, so it might not be quite the way you've heard it before:
"It is agreeable for the man who restores functionality to inoperable machinery, especially computational machines, to take pride in his work. However, he should not boast prematurely, for the machine will inevitably fall into a state of disrepair before long."

Yup. It is written.

lol

heh...

O got a ~7yo compaq that the HD died. It wont let me put on any new OS(not even linix or bare XP), unless its a Compaq one. Any suggestions? sry for the hijack.

It's probably followed by the verse on smiting computers you can't fix with great vengeance.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that is either in the book of Hezakiah or II Hesitations. I'd have to do a search to get the exact reference. Either way, it still rings true to this day.
