I'm changing my Video card cooler.

I the past when I increased the fan speed on my Video card stock
cooler to 80 on rivatuner and played bioshock 2 times the videocard went blank and when i put stock video fan speed to 75 and played bioshock I did'nt get blank screen on bioshock.

I think that when the stock fan videocard cooler is set too high the videocard might not like that when I play some games because the stock fan is plugged into the videocard.

I ordered a VF1000 Zalman videocard cooler because i'm able to plug the Zalman fan in the molex connecter and it cools the videocard better and hopefully i'm able to use the zalman fan at full speed.

Just be careful when you install it. Video cards don't have the same packaging as modern day CPUs and as such it is easier to crack the chip if you put too much pressure on it.

yeah i had some issues when i changed the video card cooler for a different project but yeah, make sure you dont throw any small pieces away that you might need.

That thing is enormous...

I was thinking, and this will probably make no sense, but if you turned your stock fan's speed up on the card, and the screen went black, wont that happen again with this? You are going to be using the power from the PSU, not power gained simply by plugging it into the motherboard. But that was the case with the old fan, because the card is plugged into the motherboard.

Basically, if your PSU is not strong enough, the same thing will happen. Your card requires at least a 400w PSU.

Any of that make sense?

Some years ago when I bought a volcano 7 Heatsink and fan for my
old amd thunderbird a computer shop guy told me to plug the fan plug
into the molex connecter that takes power directly from the powersupply
and not the motherboard fan connecter otherwise It would be bad for my
amd motherboard.

One reason that I bought a Zalman vf1000 is so I can plug the fan in
the molex connecter that takes power directly from the power supply
so that I might eliminate the blank screen trouble. I might have to still rely
on running speedfan program before restarting through windows XP though.

I have successfully installed the Zalman vf1000. :)
