Hypothetical Situation...

Imagine if a group of superior-intelligent aliens decided to come down to earth, fully capable of all languages known to man and aware of everything each person did in his/her lifetime (by superior mental capacity, or technology, etc...). Imagine if they were kind, interactive, personal and benevolent, but when asked about religion, they said this:

"Christianity? Oh yes. We were the ones that made it. See my friend here? He's the one that played as Jesus. I was Satan. You know all the satanic powers and miracles that occurred around the world? Yup; it was us using our little hi-tech trinkets. Nifty to find out that the two great forces are standing before you now, isn't it? Well, that's why we're here. We're here to inform you guys about this because our tests on your behaviorisms of your so-called 'supernatural' are complete."

(assuming they really could duplicate the "miracles" and "supernatural powers" in front of your eyes, as well as instill the same emotions/feelings encountered in seeing "God's hand working.")

How would a Christian react to that in terms of his/her faith? How SHOULD a Christian react to that?

Any technology that is sufficiently advanced will be indistinguishable from magic.

So it's entirely possible.

Cling to the Word of God and know that they are false...prophets? I would suspect the anti Christ and his bunch!

How would you be so sure. You obviously seem to have a set criteria for who "it" is, where it comes from and so on...

If you look at the second paragraph they are, in effect, telling us that the Word of God was a hoax. The Word says:

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
For there shall arise false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in the heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Matthew 24: 4, 5, 23, 24, 29-34

Therefore, unless they come with great power and great glory...I am talking Jesus in the clouds, no tricks or mode of transportation other than His white horse with angels playing the trumpet...I will not buy it! I'm just a dumb sheep trying to go by the instructions the Shepherd left for us.

We would do well to remember these things in case our Bibles ever get taken...yet many never read it anyway! The Bible tells us that the very elect will be deceived if possible. I am assuming we will have some very convincing false prophets, due to that statement and perhaps this case scenario is not to far fetched!

Our belief is solely in the Bible and nothing else. There ar folks who have tried circular logic, constant questions that with diferent words that really mean the same question oer and over again. The bible is our foundation and that's what we stand on.
Amen, to that!

There used to be a poster with a sweet heart. He had many ideas, some Scriptural, but he did not know the location of verses. For whatever reason, even with DV, Jim, Mr. Bill's, and several other member's prodding him, he never used Scripture. When I began posting, we were oftentimes reminded that they wanted Scripture and verse! I have had much to say since that time, but the truth of the matter is, only the Scripture and verse are important! It is not my words that are important, but God's Word! We should never trust the devil! However, if we don''t know what the Bible says, how will we know what he is telling us is contrary to the Bible? If we do not stand for the Holy Word of God, we will fall for anything! We need the Daily Bread which is God's Word; we will Spiritually starve without it!

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Luke 11:3 & 4

The bottom line in all that I have said... we are only human and want to paint things that are aesthetically pleasing. There is only black and white, as in God or the enemy. Yet, we want to paint all these glorious hues and shades of gray. Perhaps we get bored with black and white, we cannot measure up...we want more options for whatever reasons. The truth is, call it whatever we want to, it is either of God, or it is not! We don't like it and that is why we have so many confusing choices. Confusion is of the devil...yea, the eternal circle...it is either of God, or it is not!

I was assuming that the aliens weren't lying. I suppose that's an issue. Azzie, since you're the one controlling this hypothetical, are the aliens lying?

Well this makes me laugh personally.

Aliens and the Bible and Jesus played by an alien....

Goofy talk, but it is your right to do it.

I always wonder why we spend so much energy thinking about impossible topics and subjects and so little time contemplating the Glory and Magesty of God.

PS. 46:10- Be still and know I am God.

Carry on with aliens....

You guys are sweet, thank you! The thought of what I would actually do in that situation sort of turned it into my morning Bible study. In addition, I have always thought the final battle may have a Star Wars feel, it wouldn't surprise me one single bit!
